megan is missing is THE SCARIEST movie i've watched so far and here's why

megan is missing is a movie from 2011 but it didn't get popular until 2020, and i didn't watch it until a few days ago.

megan is missing is a film about a case that happened in real life and trust me, i did not know what ''scary movie'' meant until i saw this, istg i have never been as frightened of something as i've been of megan is missing, and i've watched many types of movies. i have been jumpscared, disturbed or even disgusted by some movies or series bc of crazy things that happen in the film or bc there were disturbing images that normally are made by makeup or special effects, but nothing has made my heart race like this one.

the movie starts with a girl named Megan who is very popular and pretty and even though she's 13 or 14 she goes to parties and has had a lot of sexual experience, and everyone loves her. then, there's Amy, who is her best friend and she is very shy, she's not very liked by other ppl bc she doesn't do the things most teens consider ''cool'' in the movie. one day, Megan starts talking online with this guy called josh and she videochats him but he says his camera is broke bc his little brother broke it. anyway, one day, Megan and josh meet behind a restaurants and she disappears.

nah, i'm kidding. but until this point of the movie it's just the introduction so that we can get to know the characters, the context, etc. now, this film is based of real life and we all know that the sad truth is that, yes, a lot of ppl talk with strangers online and sometimes these ppl turn out to be miserable assholes who end up hurting the other person, which is smth that happens in real life, so you can imagine. but, istg, i was not expecting certain images to jumpscare me in the middle of the movie. it's obviously all makeup and acting but to think that actual images like that existed, is what made feel SCARED, but i mean SCARED. i did not know what feeling scared meant until this happened.

idk if you've seen them, but if u haven't, i'll describe them to you so you don't have to look them up.

so the pictures show a girl, who is Megan, in some sort of medieval torturing decive that locks her hands and neck so she can't move. she's half naked, dirty and covered in blood. there are these metal thingies that hold her mouth nose nostrils and eyes very opened and ofc she's hurt bc she was kidnapped. it's like that scream painting but imagine a real person and with blood in her mouth and nose. disturbing. it was midnight when i saw this movie, i was dark and alone in my room and i had my laptop right in front of my face. you don't know how fucking afraid i was. i went to my sister's room, she was still awake and stayed there a little bc i was fr not okay. i din't want to go to sleep without knowing what happeed later so i continued watching the movie even if i shouldn't have.

so, after Megan goes missing, everyone starts looking for her, everybody is worried and ofc Amy is worried as well. she records some kind of videoblog explaining how much she misses her and she does it under a bridge that's surrounded by trees and vegetation. she explains how she used to go there with Megan just to talk, until a creppy man's arm shows and the camera stops recording. Amy was kidnapped too.

the news spread and ppl start looking for them even more, and one of the men who were investigating finds Amy's video camera in a trash bin near the park she was kidnapped in and they see all the recordings in it and this was the saddest part of the film.

the camera shows how Amy is kidnapped and trapped in some underground place. it's all dark and she's half naked. she's all dirty and he barely feeds her. he treats her like a dog and basically tortures her. there a clip where it's shown how ''josh'' rapes her and everything... then, when Amy finally becomes completely crazy from all the torturing, this fucking whore tells the girl that he's gonna take her home, but he doesn't want her to know where he lives so he tells her that he's going to put her inside a barrel to take her back... and when he opens the tap, in full HD, we se Megan's naked, dead, discomposing body inside the fucking barrel. this was another jumpscare for me, and i know it's just makeup and that it's not real, but... it's gross... and sad. obviously Amy starts screaming in horror but he ends up putting her inside it as well. the last seven minutes of the movie i think, it's just the guy making a hole in the middle of the woods where he burries Megan and, Amy who is still alive, and that's it.

i mean, a lot of things in this film are very disturbing and traumatizing, but the thing that made me shit my pants was that someone actually found videos and pictures of two teenager being tortured, raped and killed irl. to think that something like this can actually happen in real life is what makes me scared the most.

worse things can happen, maybe not so terrible things can happen, and it's not the most common things for you to have to live through this, but it is terrifying. so the moral of the story is, don't talk to strangers online. and if ur gonna do it, don't give them personal info, and don't meet up with them alone or without telling anyone else, bc u could get raped, tortured, kidnapped and brutally murdered or even burried alive with a corpse until you slowly die.
