Braces...? PLEASE GIVE TIPS.

OK so a few months ago, i got my last baby tooth pulled and guess what.. that mf has NOT grown in yet. Not a SINGLE BIT. So my dentist recommended going to an orthodontist. I'm actually so scared. The appointment is this Thursday and my dentist said they might need to PULL my tooth down. WTH DOES THAT MEAN. And to make matters WORSE.. my dentist recommended braces. I mean my teeth areee a bit fucked up (really crooked and crowded) so i get why i would need braces BUT IM SO SCARED. I don't want braces. T_T they're gonna cut up my cheeks and lips and it's gonna hurt SO BADD. If anyone sees this, PRETTY PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE IT AS PAINLESS AS POSSIBLE. AND IF I NEED TO EXPECT ANYTHING THAT ISN'T WELL KNOWN, PLEASE TELL MEEEEEEEE IM BEGGINNNGGG. I WANNA BE AS PREPARED AS POSSIBLE.

i've been using braces for i think 6 years now and honestly, it may seem scary at first but is actually not even bad, in the first week you will probably feel a lot of pressure on your mouth and your teeth is going to feel sensitive, but it goes way very quickly (3 days at max), what i recommend is a lot of ice cream and cold drinks, cold temps help the wire loosen up and fit your mouth better (hot things will have the opposite effect)

and about cutting your mouth, its almost nearly impossible to get cut with braces (unless you're trying very hard), most brackets (bits that are glued to your teeth) are a either soft and round metal or ceramic so there are no edges to slice your cheeks, and if your braces do actually start cutting your mouth, most orthodontists provide you with a pack of silicone wax for you to put in front of your brackets

overall braces are gonna help you a LOT in the long run, it may feel like a burden sometimes but but the pros overshadow the cons very much, i had a huge boost in confidence after i had mine installed and i feel way better than before

(also, avoid white/light colors for your rubber bands at all costs, they make your teeth feel a lot more yellow and dirty than normally)

I didn't expect anyone to actually reply to my blog, thank you SO MUCH. This has given me most of the reassurance I'm looking for :3 I'm probably gonna get black, dark purple, or dark blue bands (if i do end up with braces). This has helped so much, thank you!!!
