Dark romance

I find it a bit strange how some people represent love in a problematic or just sexual way, In many Dark romances there is kidn4pping, even ๐Ÿ‡, and it's not cool to represent that as love, as romantic. But I feel like writing is about expressing yourself, and the person is expressing themselves even if it's something problematic. In the end I don't know if it's something that should be judged or not

Seeing that so often...Idek what dark romance is supposed to be anymore. But i have some ideas that i think can be considered dark romance (Idk what that is but i have some ideas of toxic love dynamics) without the r4pe and kidnapping :]

-2 or 1 character/s having a fascination with violence
-2 killers in a relationship
-a killer and a cannibal in a relationship
-a killer and a willing victim in a relationship (Either trauma bond, or a suicidal/homicidal dynamic)
-One or both partners are obsessed with the other (NOT doing things like r4pe and kidnapping)
-Both characters hate eachother but they feed off that hate
-Human x monster (can be a sleep paralasys demon too, or a ghost)
-Sadist/Masochist dynamic (obv you can make it dark or cute, but there are some ways to make it dark)
-Rivals (One dynamic i really like is a criminal and a cop. Theres also the hero x villain one)
-2 characters bonding in a traumatic situation and it can lead to love (Like, instead of the kidnapper x victim, think 2 victims)
-Doctor x patient (It can def be toxic, bcs its immoral, illegal and can be dangerous in a way)
-And last but not least, this one is very specific but if u know htf, the Flippy x Splendid ship can be quait toxic. The whole dynamic. I mean...people ship them just bcs they both kill people TT , but one is by accident, and the other is on porpouse

Is this what dark romance is like?

(Also i agree. As someone who writes abt r4pe and cnc for people to cope, i do consider them fetish/kink stories and not actual dark romance.)

I completely understand. For some writers, itโ€™s definitely a way to express and move through things that have happened to them. For others, itโ€™s just a way to write out their darkest fantasies. Sometimes itโ€™s really easy to see the intentions of their writing, sometimes itโ€™s really difficult. I try not to judge, but i definitely avoid those topics when I can.

Yes, I understand Dark romance, if it's to express something deeper, some just express their fetishes. It's rude to express serious things just as fetishes..
