because i am unfortunately a messy bitch i NEED to talk about the super duper strict rules that have recently come into place about certain subcultures for NO REASON, specifically mcbling, scene and punk. now, im not an expert in fashion (me when i lie), nobody really is! but i feel as though i still have some room to complain about these things okay 🙄🤚
BECAUSE i am of both mcbling and scene styles i know quite a bit about the two and if you try to educate me i will hit you with my jeep. but i don't know nearly as much about the punk style, mostly just the common knowledge, but i will be doing research JUST for this blog so ur welcome. 😒
starting off with scene, specifically the music. the debocale on if you have to listen to crunkcore or poppunk to be scene has been going on FOREVER and someone needs to address it. someone can follow literally EVERY SINGLE OTHER principle of being scene and will be called a poser for listening to 6arelyhuman or rebzyyx or any other scenecore artist. LIKE WHAT SINCE WHEN WAS IT ILLEGAL TO ENJOY OTHER GENRES. like the word "scene" is literally in the name of scenecore because its INSPIRED OFF OF UPBEAT 'SCENE' MUSIC. UUUGGHHH. the thing is scene is a (primarily) fashion-based subculture so the music shouldn't even matter, but people overlook that because they don't want to get grouped with the posers. ts pmo brh
another thing about scene is the emphasis on tight flashy party clothes, but that's not all that it is. ive seen multiple people on multiple socials get called posers for wearing baggy or dark-colored clothing that's still within the category of scene clothing but not the stereotypical 2005-2010 copy and paste skin-tight style. its like the fashion police expects every single scene person to look the exact same?? like people are allowed to experiment with different clothing items while they still entirely align with the subculture???? LIKE WHAT since when was there a billion gazillion rules to how you dress in a subculture thats based around partying and the internet 🙏🙏
moving onto mcbling because ive talked FAR too long abt scene LOL
anyway ive seen many people say that you have to be rich to be mcbling, which.....WHAT! i'm definitely NOT rich and im still a VERY mcbling girl, so ill use myself as an example to disprove this. first of all, since the mcbling style is shaped around y2k, and a lot of y2k items were made using DIY, ive made a good majority of my clothes! DIY can also include pairing items that arent necessarily mcbling into clothes that ARE to create the illusion of them being mcbling items. since DIY is essentially free to the public, mcbling can be achieved WITHOUT HAVING LOTS OF MOOLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! even though high-end brands like juicy, chanel, gucci, dior, and prada are a big part of the style that doesn't mean they're essential to be mcbling! this argument is stupid and shouldn't exist. 🤦♀️
ironically enough mcbling is the one style i have the least to say about lmao
time for punk!!! like i said i dont know as much about punk as i do about scene and mcbling, but what i do know is that its NOT ABOUT BEING A DEMOCRAT. yes, that is a real thing i've heard being tossed around. punk is about being anti-capitalism, rejection of norms, and on the OPPOSING SIDE OF THE GOVERNMENT. most people who are of the punk subculture believe in the anarchist way of life, and this means they stray away from politics. so, in short, being punk is the complete opposite of being left-leaning, a democrat, and/or a liberal. while they may share the same ideoligies as some of the electees running for office, punk literally cannot be about being invested in politics. it's about having your own mind to think for yourself and what YOU believe in, and voting or actively approving of voting for someone is against the very idea of the punk subculture. don't quote me on this tho
anyway that's all, just wanted to rant! sorry that was a lot of reading LAWL

agreed with everything up until punk, which no hate btw just wanna clarify some stuff. the "rules" have existed since the beginning of punks conception. being political is almost just as important as the music when it comes to punk. its true that they're not democrats, in fact most of us hate democrats, but we are still very much left-leaning. most punks i've met are communist, anarchist, socialist, etc. etc. and being political isn't just about voting.
YES!! thank u, like i said i don't know nearly as much about punk as i do about mcbling and scene so thanks for clearing this up :D
