independence day

for the fourth of july i visited my grandpa, he lives in this little redneck town with 400~ people in the middle of nowhere and a bunch of run down houses and buildings, the drive from my house to his was only like an hour which was kind of a shock because i live in a pretty big city, there were a bunch of graveyards and funeral homes everywhere and it was kind of unnerving, everyone was either senior citizens or in their fourties, i swear i only saw one or two other teenagers there.

we got there at about 10am on the fourth itself, my family wanted to go early so we could spend the whole day and not just the night for the fireworks, but it was honestly sort of lame, we just walked around town the whole morning, there wasn't much to do because it's so small unfortunately. we spent most of the time down at the wharf but didn't even go on my grandpa's boat or to the pool or anything. the whole day was just that and the fourth of july parade, that was also very redneck, there were a bunch of old cars which was neat but there was also this truck that said "GOD GUNS AND TRUMP", and some guy with a confederate flag, besides that it was pretty cool, i felt sort of out of place because everyone already knew each other but it was still enjoyable.

for dinner we just had corn and hot dogs, very patriotic, we went to see fireworks and drive around later, it was neat i suppose, and i got to run the car in little circles around the parking lot. we stayed the night (which i didn't want to), but it was pretty nice since i got to sleep in the master bedroom. we went home on the fifth at around 9, and got home at around 10 just like the last day. it was alright overall, i guess i consider myself a patriot, or at least i don't hate america as much as some people, but it didn't really make me feel that much :P
