you NEED dumb statement t-shirts, try to upcycle a piece before u give it to the thrift, or at least have homemade band merch!!!!!!!!!!!!! o-0
IF U DON'T KNOW HOW UR THINK U NEED CLOTHING PAINT, HERE!
1. Painting
- mix acrylic paint with water until it's runny, not like water, but more like a plaster mix
- iron the piece before, the cotton fibers need to open up to "inhale" the paint, if u skip this the paint has no ability to stick and just lies flat and stains the cloth rather than getting into the fibers
- paint THIN coats; no blobs. If you're painting on black expect the colors to be greyish and clear until 4th/5th coat.
- let dry for a minimum of 5 hours, ideally overnight. even if it feels dry to touch, 5h is the minimal it needs to settle
- iron the dyed part, if its ur first time doing this do it with parchment paper, since you mightve left some blobs that might stick to the iron
- torture it with showerhead water; anything that falls off during this process would otherwise fall off into your washing machine and clog it.
NO, YOU DON'T NEED ANY DUMBASS POLISHES OR TOP COATS!!
*Note: Clothing paint is usually needed for any and all kinds of jeans, since that material is more persisent and doesn't inhale paint as easily as cotton.
2. Dyeing
Did u know u can dye ur clothes with the most random shiz from yo kitchan?! 0_o Here's everything I found at home that works with this method:
- black tea (pale brown to chocolate brown)
- green tea (greenish-brownish)
- coffee (instant works worse than ground) (brown, duh)
- avocado peels (babypink/red)
- berry syrups (red/pinkish)
- beetroot (WARNING: VERY STRONG DYE)(red/pinkish-purple)
soooooo if u have any of these over the date at home, here's a use for them!
- prepare a cotton/mostly cotton clothing that's in the white, baby pink, creme, or gray range
- NEVA UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF HOT WATER!!! in a bowl, put said thing(s) in there and pour in 90*-100*C (194-212 f) water
- using tongs (or being very careful) put in said piece; if it's folded, stir a little, so the color catches in all spots
- leave for ~2-4hours, by then the water already managed to get hot (open up fibers), dye itself, and set in (when water cools) like 8 times.
- obviously set to air dry
- iron
- rinse off excess with the highest shower head setting
MWAH!!!
2.1 Tie-dyeing
Before u say it's yucky, just pinterest "tie dye scene" or "tie dye schemo" and you just might fall in love.
To do dat u can use both natural and unnatural ingredients!
For beetroot/avocado/syrups:
Make a boiling mixture, wait for it to cool, strain, and put into a bottle/cup.
For paint:
Make the plaster mix 5 times more runny, like make it color water, but NOT to the point where it's see through, and put in a bottle/cup

Mutant.
If you could use oil paint instead of acrylics it probably will stay on longer, that stuff is hard to get out of your clothes.
yeaaa but it smells >_< i personally dont like it because of that

Yeah, I actually can't use it at all. It affects my eyes too

It probably depends on the brand/type of acrylic paint, since I know that Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic is going to be more permanent and harder to remove from your clothing than Walmart or Target brand generic acrylic paint (at least according to one of my professors).
