Hey there, readers, it's •Beck•
Here is a quick blurb(?) to kick off Writing Wednesday (W.W.)
I say blurb as though that is the right word. To be honest, I don't know how else to describe it. Perhaps a vignette? Maybe.
I wrote it after finishing the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor when I got a bit reflective on the show and it's themes.
I recommend the show if you like spooky stuff (it takes a bit to get going, but I promise it's worth a binge) and I hope you like my little vignette.

Houses aren't haunted when they're built. But, then again, what makes a house truly haunted?

A grisly murder?
A tragic accident?
A crime gone awry?

We speak of these moments as though they have come and gone. The stains washed away, new wallpaper covering the room. Crime scene tape taken down and deteriorating in the grass in the yard.

The fleeting material totems gone in the blink of an eye. The swipe of a paintbrush.

No.

They mark the wood floors, no stitches created strong enough to sew them back together. Stains bleed through the pitiful bandage hastily tied around the wounds.

No. It is not the scenes that make a house haunted.

It's the wounds left behind that do.
