Video Essay channels are fucking annoying

i’m writing this because i’m so tired of these wannabe “game journalists” pretending they’re just normal gamers... your opinion is not gospel, your trash takes on basic-ass media don’t make you deep, people only tolerate your half-baked garbage because it’s decent background noise. nobody actually gives a single flying fuck about what you think.

and i really don’t give a shit that you’re a “science fiction writer” you cram that into every video like it’s supposed to impress anyone. maybe your series is tanking for a reason you fat loser

i’m just venting because i watched some dude absolutely tear the Bo6 campaign to shreds, which i personally loved.

i’ve been on CoD since 2013, right after bo2 dropped. bo6 literally ties straight into the bo2 flashbacks, so of course i’m eating that shit up. everyone whining about the pacing like every switch-up isn’t 100% deliberate. and god forbid someone just likes mindless combat... is it suddenly a crime to enjoy blasting zombies with heavy riffs blasting in your ears? that’s the whole fucking point. it’s big explosions, simple plots, badass music... that’s why it’s so damn popular. treating CoD like it’s some literary masterpiece you have to analyze is dumb as fuck.

This kinda ties into my bigger point, so many video essayists seriously act like their opinion somehow outweighs what the general public thinks. Remember In Praise of Shadows? Yeah. That same smug attitude infects so many channels it’s unreal. The only ones I can actually stand are guys like Wendigoon, Nexpo, etc. They’ve got takes, sure, but they don’t shove it down your throat like they’re the only ones who “get it.” Media, hell, art in general, lives and dies by how the audience interprets it.

What really pisses me off is when someone who barely knows shit about the topic struts in acting like they’re some expert. I’m bringing this up because half the people calling the Bo6 campaign “trash” only started playing CoD after MW2019 dropped… like come the fuck on.

Obviously I’m biased too, CoD was my childhood. I even liked Ghosts, so maybe I’m just easy to please, who knows. But who the hell are you to judge people for liking something you decided to overanalyze like it’s a high-budget art film? Bo6 got one damn year in development and it still came out fun as hell (multiplayer is another story). I’ll take dumb combat, explosions, and metal blasting over some pretentious hour-long rant any day.
