my 12+ years of journey in graphic design!

The Beginning. [2012]

Brace yourself with the most absurd and delusional starting story ever told in mankind.
I was 10 years old, a diehard fan of Barbie who believed Barbies were real. (God bless my happy innocent mind.) Upon being influenced by my father using Facebook, I asked him to create an account for me as well. He was hesitant-- it's obvious why, but he still created me one. Yay. Here comes THAT delusional laughable part. I looked for accounts in search of uh.... real Barbies to talk. (we're getting to the relevant part)

After many delusional fantasies later, I discovered editors, the kind that'd use pictures of Barbie and change the color of their dresses + hair, AND THAT, fascinated me. Thanks to that one girl who took her time to help me to learn this magical sorcery. Without her I legit wouldn't be here. Couldn't be anymore thankful to that girl. <3

The First Step Towards A Grand Adventure. [2012 - 2014]

I still remember the editor I used, which was Muzy / Picmonkey.

Since then, I took a great interest to "turning blonde hairs to brunette, red dresses to a beautiful green or maybe rainbows, short hair to long hair" and through that, I somehow grew a small number of fascinated fans like I initially was. I taught them too and soon, that skill spread like wildfire in that fanbase. I gradually upgraded to creating something more, for instance: collages, posters, cover pictures. Then I got SO OBSESSED with the pleasure I found in creating them so much that I spent hours to create/find various styles and edit with outmost efforts. Everyday, I'd come back from school, have my lunch and start binge editing. Sounds crazy though right? that a kid getting obsessed with something that didn't know would be so useful in the future. That even, the kind of profession that adults hate themselves for choosing T_T

Though I was a good student, I'd finish my homeworks in between then continue editing. (Damn. How did I manage all that?) Surprisingly, my parents didn't have much of a say in this. they supported me doing what I love. I know it doesn't sound very convincing enough but it's all true. :")

Igniting A New Flame. [2015]

Upon discovering Anime and DeviantArt through an online friend, whom I see as my inspiration and a mentor, I started learning Photoshop through the tutorials she provided and a little help from YouTube. Being inspired by more editors in DeviantArt; whose pieces were absolutely topnotch, ignited a flame in me; 'I want to create magnificent pieces like theirs too'. Though it was challenging to study their pieces and obtaining the trait of attention to critical details, which requires a lot of time and strong concentration. My dedicated little potato self would spend hours and hours playing around with the tools, effects, trying to achieve the outcome from their pieces, which developed my ability to focus on the details in depth, to the point I could identify what kind of resources were used to create a certain piece... and that itself blew me away because of the level of precision I achieved in recreating their pieces. (I want this determination back pls omg.) Additionally, A year or 2 later I joined a small online designing studio to which took a whole new turn that changed my life in every way; forming connections/networks, discover more potential in myself etc. It led to more offers to join big, popular anime online design studios, (creating youtube thumbnails, icons and banners).

Golden Times. [2016 - 2019]

I opened a youtube channel, for nightcores. The sole reason was I became a huge fan of those funky colorful bright spectrum visualizers that nightcore youtubers create with Adobe After Effects... Seeing how complicated After Effects was, Windows Movie Maker became my long term best friend. (yeah I still use it bye.)
I remember the countless of times I ragequited and uninstalled After Effects everytime I tried to use it. God bless the patience and dedication I had to learn After Effects regardless how it treated me. Within time which felt like an eternity, I somehow tamed this abomination and I still don't know anything beyond the basics.
I also somewhat impressed my father + school computer teacher with practical skills that involved photoshop innit. I used to make class party posters for my class too. Good ol days. The Journey Continues. [2020 - Present]I was active in designing + uploading in YouTube daily till 2020. My consistency had a drastic fall due to education, health concerns etc, resulting a huge editor's block that I'm currently struggling with. Despite being absent ever since, I learnt so many stuff in between out of passion, made many great friends, family and memories. I love, miss that life so much.I started getting a hang on it again after my IGCSE exams ended on June 2024. While I'm striving to get that consistent content creating life back, I drastically and magically(?) improved my skills in Photoshop, to which I can proudly claim that I finally obtained the touch of those professional Deviantart editors that I talked about in the 2015 paragraph. Though I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn.Additionally, it hasn't always been all sunshine and rainbows though. there were times where I wanted to quit designing and content creating due of the hardships I was facing from not being able to learn the advanced techniques, lack of views/audience and thought it wasn't, just for me. I honestly don't think I can thank those amazing people enough who supported, inspired and motivated me all the way through to keep me going. Without them in my journey and life, I wouldn't be here-- they DESERVE SO MUCH CREDIT AND LOVE.It has been truly, an incredible journey. I hope to continue this in the long run. <3 thanks for bearing with me and reading this far.A little update: Currently, this became my major. I'm gonna be studying visual arts on a university! <3MY ART HIGHLIGHTS.
