books i read on june πŸ“‘πŸ“š

read 4 books last month! πŸ˜ΈπŸ’ž not really a great amount quantity-wise but i had a lot of fun because these books were *smooch* super very memorable to me! i will try to gather up my thoughts to them, the following books are:20250704-213030

1. things have gotten worse since we last spoke by eric larocca

baffled over how low rated this book is both on goodreads and storygraph because in my opinion its such a damn fine book! resonates with me a lot with the lingering theme of online addiction, mental ilnesses and you know, uhh, miserable gay people doing miserable gay things πŸ₯€

and as someone that are actually gay and miserable this book is such a great representation to me πŸ’ž yes its disgusting and really really stomach-churning at times but the writing have its own charm to me. its a neat 100 page-ish page book so you could read it in no time.Β

do check some trigger warnings before reading this if you cared enough because it can be real nasty & disgusting lol

2. several people are talking by calvin kasulke

back on the weird weird book, book that are weird weird weird, but is weirdly amusing. THIS IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!! and overly absurd!!!!! what makes the book interesting is that the whole thing is set entirely on the message-based team application Slack, the narration is entirely text-based! this will be fun enough to anyone that are struggling with their attention span as this book will keep you engaged and 100% sit your ass down! a really interesting (and weird) read.

3. all the lovers in the night by mieko kawakami

the most highlighted book on my kindle im glad we have this book written on earth because it makes me feel SEEN!!!! probably one of the most peaceful book out there as this book is about daily life of a middle-aged woman dealing with loneliness and solitary. these things will never be easy to overcome, but reading the book somehow relieved me, that now i think being in seclusion is one of many things that i should wholly embrace and live with in life, that right people will come to you in the right time πŸ’ž

4. secret diary of laura palmer by jennifer lynch

this is a spin off of the show twin peaks! if you havent watched the show, you definitely should watch it! such a cozy mystery murder with many quirky characters. finished the original run of the show & watched fire walk with me this month, they are all REALLY fantastic. i feel like this book is a great addition to the world of twin peaks! :3Β

i lowkey dont really mind of triggering stuffs on a book but this is way too triggering for me to handle to the point it makes me feel really really uncomfortable. a painful read since i cared a lot about laura palmer damn thinking of her never failed to make me shed a tears or two

GAHHHHH thats not so many words but not so bad for my first blog post i write this in like 10 pm and i desperately need a good sleep so forgive me for any flaws / typosΒ  <3

Thank you for the recs! I want to read the third book. It reminds me of a book / movie called 'A Single Man'. It handle a middle-aged gay man's solitude who lost his lover. You might like it!
