Bugs, Insects and Colour
A collection of Illustrations by Bella
This project was started a little bit into my semester break for university. I was given 7 weeks off, and knew I needed to broaden my skills, try something new and have something to look back on to ensure that I didn't just rot away at my desk watching YouTube, doing something that wasn't meaningful. One of my lecturers gave us advise on our last class, mentioning that we should do something to keep us busy, like starting a project, keeping some kind of routine or thing we do at a certain time each day to keep us motivated and creatively awake.
My main issue is overthinking, and having anxiety due to knowing people my age are out doing things with their friends, or even on their own, as they can be out and about enjoying life with no fear like what I have. I don't go out, unless I'm with someone, although I do go on the occasional trip to the library or go for a walk. Sitting inside and drawing really is the one thing that keeps me sane, like I was put on this earth to do this and only this. When my hands are busy, my brain and mind goes silent, a sense of peace and creating my happy space.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, please enjoy my works i've created :)
Green Caterpillar
The first piece in this series, which accidentally started this project in the first place. Green and teal colours blend together, incorporating twee aesthetics like apples, clovers, buttons and fruits to create a sense of whimsy and gentleness. It was after completing this illustration that I decided to make 4 more, blue, purple, yellow and red with different insects with vast arrays of fruits and flowers.
Blue Cicada
Purple Dragonfly
Yellow Bee
Red Ladybug
