Hey. Well, I'm sure you've seen a lot of these on the internet but today I'd like to give you my guide to romanticizing school/life! A few years ago, I would get tense out of nowhere and I didn't really enjoy my own life, but when I started romanticizing my life, things got better. I literally do this all the time and I can't live without picturing myself as the main character. Hope this helps <3
Step 1: Build an identity.
First, you need to clear up who you are. Who are you? Which character are you playing on your own movie? Remember, you're like the protagonist of your own story. You could be the silent kid who is an artist, or the popular girl/guy who's iconic, or the baddie everyone is afraid of, or the nerd everyone is jealous of because of their grades... You don't have to wear tags or etiquettes, 'cause that's not good either, but it's okay to know yourself, be you and be proud of that.
Step 2: Your room.
Your bedroom is where you (you're probably a teenager) spend most of your time, and you can tell a lot about a teen by their room. You can decorate it with pictures with your friends or family, posters of singer or celebrities you like, maybe even shows, movies or videogames too! Have little toys, plushies or trinkets that spark your cave a little more. Not everyone can change their room so easily, some people can't afford stuff or don't know how to print pictures or simply don't have time for decorating... but if you have time, I truly recommend doing it, because if you're spending most of your time there, then spend it somewhere pretty that feels you!
Step 3: Your closet and looks.
It doesn't matter if you ain't got many clothes, or a lot, what matter is that you like it and you feel attractive in them. Buy clothes that are comfortable and that will last because it's sad to waste clothing. What kind of colors do you like? Are you more into summer or winter fits? Do you like baggy or skin tight clothes? Pants, skirts or dresses? Any accesories that you like? Perhaps you can get a new haircut to spark up your hair and look? Again, not everyone can afford clothes, accesories or expensive hair salons. There are thrift shops, and some styles aren't that expensive.
Step 4: Social media.
Have an aesthetic profile picture, a cool-sounding username and post the stuff you wanna share with the world. It's cool because when other people see you profile, they'll see who you want to resemble, they'll see who you are. Also, keep your accounts private, don't share too many information, specially if it's personal, only accept people you trust or know irl, remember your passwords and don't share them to be safe online.
Step 5: Clean your room, organize stuff and self-care.
You know, basic hygiene. Keeping your bedroom clean and organized can help you feel less stressed. Shower everyday, do skin care if you want to and do basic things like brushing your teeth, flossing, cutting your nails, cleaning your ears, brushing your hair, etc... By the way, self care does not only mean hygiene, it also means taking care of yourself. Eat a little bit of everything, stretch and do some exercise, breath fresh air from time to time, socialize with your loved ones... And very importantly, love yourself and treat yourself correctly!
Step 6: School.
Okay, this is the part where we actually start talking about school, haha! Keep a schedule to know all your classes, make sure you got all you your books and notebooks, all your pencils and supplies. Remember to bring a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated, charge your phone the night before and maybe bring some extra things in case you need them, like pads, makeup, hand-sanatizer, a little notebook, you know... Trust me, if you feel good on your outfit and have everything you need, you'll feel powerful.
Step 7: Do well in school.
When you're in class, imagine you're the main character in a movie, like Cady Heron from Mean Girls, Otis Milburn from Sex Education, Vada Cavell from The Fallout, etc... And, you know what? Actually listen! It can be boring, maybe some days you might feel sad or angry or tired, but, learning is actually cool. Having the privilege of learning new things is amazing, think about those people who are stupid or those who weren't lucky enough to have an education. I know that sometimes school tries to teach us things we're never gonna use irl, and some teachers aren't good teachers and you actually can't learn anything because they won't do their job, but school can actually teach many interesting things, and trust me, it feels good when your teachers congratulates you for doing well your homework or when they hand you an exam with a good grade. So yeah, takes notes, listen, do your homework, do your assignments, study, ask questions... At the end of the day, you get smarter, what's so bad about that?
Step 8: Socialize and make friends.
It's always good to have friends, people to hang out and have fun with, people who can count on you and also count on, people who have your back, you know? Of course I'd recommend being nice to everyone and help others when it's neccesary but if someone starts shit with you, stand up for yourself, let them know to not mess with you. If someone keeps teasing you, ask for help, don't ever be afraid! Alright, besides that, go out with your friends, have pajama parties, go to the movies, do something fun! Oh, and take lots of pictures!
Step 9: Hobbies.
Everyone has hobbies, activities you enjoy doing. You can do sports, cooking, art, science, dancing, writing, videogaming, it can be literally anything! Do what makes you feel complete, and also, don't let anyone shame you because of your likes.
Step 10: Just enjoy your life.
At the end of the day, your life is what is it and you cannot change it, it will never be perfect and that is fine. Love yourself, treat other well too, be grateful for the things you have and just be happy.
