STOP EVERYTHING!!!!

WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY

THE YOUTH IS POLITICAL

like,, worryingly political,, from a worryingly youth,, its bad,, and worryingly red.
this blog post isnt about how The Youthâ„¢ is actually becoming more right wing or left wing or radical or whatever its about how politically engaged they seem to be, specially online.

im not gonna get into why, im sure most of you #know, i guess the real point of this blog is actually really

if you are under the age of 18 you shouldnt be making political statements publicly online

obviously is a somewhat arbitrary number that just so happens to be my culture's cutoff point for being a silly child into a serious adult and honestly you shouldnt at any age due to job security and maintaining a decently clean digital footprint *gasp* but i cannot stress how much you shouldnt talk abt politics online with strangers enough if you are a minor.

i really love this site, and i particularlly love browsing the recent blogs section when i have some time to kill. i find it way more interesting than the popular blogs tab usually is, and over the years ive found countless long and detailed posts on politics. i actually think this is completely fine as it is at the end of the day a personal blog and you can write about whatever you want really -- at times i even find myself agreeing with these posts or at the very least appreciating the ammount of effort put into them.

what bothers me is that its frankly really fucking obvious when something im reading is writen by a child, youre not slick dude, we know. for starters its usually poorly structred in the way something writen by someone young would write, even if said person has clear experience in writing articles or just writing in general (ill get to this in a sec), it will still be evident that the writer has many ideas floating around but cant find a way to tie them all together, or at times theyre not even sure what to really even talk about, which is to be expected of any young person.

i might sound a little mean here with what im about to say but stick with me until the last section of this post if it seems im being rude in some way. i believe that the biggest problem of minors writing extensively about politics is the extent of their knoledge of the subject extends to what they can consume via textbooks or the internet. this means that they lack the real-world experience to contrast what they learn thru these sources. this shows when writing a lot, and its not to say that the information is false, but rather that it is simply regurgitated, at best mixed in with echoes of whatever public speaker politic dude they happen to follow.

the part where i admit to being a hypocrite

i.. was young and political once... actually im 20 years old im actually young and political right now as im writing this...

growing up i myself was really interested in politics, i am not saying that just because youre young you dont deserve to have an opinion nor that said opinion shouldnt be heard. i do believe however that at a young age you should discuss this shit with parents, teachers and the likes but for the love of jod please not on an online platform because:

    a. spare urself the embarassment
    b. people take politics really seriously and are really willing to be nasty to you on topics they feel strongly about

the part where i talk about myself me

in my case, i was a young immigrant from a developing country into a place where i was not part of the majority ethnic group, so politics kinda forced themselves into my life in a way. my wondeful teacher identified this and helped me navigate thru hard times. i ended up signing up for the schools newspaper and even tho i couldnt write about anything too serious, i still had an outlet to let my researching and writing skills be developped, leading to me to this day participating in creative writing competitions and helping with my dad's sports events by writing articles and taking photographs for promotions. and i fucking love it to the point where i almost chose journalism as my major rather than compsci.

this website is full of young teenagers, and a lot of the posts i see from them are completely fine and good but it kills me when i see a post that is well researched and with hard worked poured into it that just falls short because of the author's age.

seriously, if u have never directly engaged with a topic in your life before please write about something else it'll be a billion times more impressive and interesting than any political slop you repeat from youtube video essays, and you'll save urself from possible harassment. ask me how i know.

the part where the post ends

as someone who's 15, this is really good advice! thank you!!! i tend to avoid posting my political views online anyway, but this really put it into perspective that i should be avoiding it, even more so. i havent seen enough of the world to have a weighted opinion and thats fine

the main danger in talking about politics as a child is that, in 99% of cases, the child in question has very little idea on how easy it is to track you and what you do online. if someone wants to find out who you are, they've got hundreds of scripts and tools at their disposal to find and potentially target you. politics, especially in this day and age, is a very dangerous territory to tread, and people have been killed for their political views by chronically online nutjobs with a frightening affinity to violence. the juice is not worth the squeeze.

i would also add...
try to travel to other countries before forming a opinion about the world...

Seeing the youth of for example USA celebrating communism while everone in europe living under that will tell you it sucked even more than everything we have now...

In general... if you have a opinion then try to find out why you could be wrong.

Ah... and teachers who also just got their knowledge from books themself arent a good source for that.

lmao this exactly, i come from a country that was a part of the eastern bloc and the amount of people, usually very young people, who romanticize and outright gargle the balls of post-soviet states like they were some magical never-do-wrong heavenly places on god's green earth is astonishing and depressing. the most privileged, selfish and materialistic people i know think that russia is the modern garden of eden with booze and virgins around every corner. it's embarrassing and infuriating.

yeah...

fun fact...

in the soviet block you werent allowed to study unless you suck up to the regime...

so that students could have never existed on the system they all think is better

by undefined; ; Report

well not quite? there were definitely some heavy political aspects to higher education but in the main soviet states (read: east europe) it wasn't as prevalent because it was kind of automatically assumed that you were favorable of the state

by BIOHAPHAZARD; ; Report

then i guess it varied about the countries...

but yeah... speaking freely wasnt a part of higher education for sure

ah and not serving in the army got you in trouble... they didnt like pacifism back then

oh yep that's true, that's how my great uncle got "disappeared"

some in my family got thrown in jail by the nazis for serving jews like normal customers...
got thrown intil jail by the communists because he wanted to run his business his way...
and later got screwed by capitalism degrading his pension

was proud of standing his ground nonetheless

Always said:
All systems where a mighty minority can do what they want with you is shit

by undefined; ; Report

very true, i am yet to see a communist country which could actually hold its ground. it sounds amazing in theory, but in practice it's not a system that i can see working adequately enough to sustain a population of anything more than a few million.

problem with communism is... its less effective in producing luxury items
(show me one communist fanboy/fangirl without a decent smartphone)

so it has to suppress democracy because people would switch to whatever give them more cool stuff...

but yeah... nothing against a hippie commune... with the right people that can work on small scale...
But thats not a system that scales at all

by undefined; ; Report

honestly i'd be fine with giving up most of my luxury items if that meant that people would have the opportunity to have a decent standard of living across the board. my 4 hours of doomscrolling are not worth keeping people in sweatshops and perpetual poverty for. but i just do not see communism working with 8 billion people alive rn

by BIOHAPHAZARD; ; Report

yeah but how much people would in total?

I have seen polling where people got ask if they give away their voting rights for a new smartphone... and it was disturbing to see how much people would do that...

in the end soviet union was partly destroy by blue jeans and coke

"in the end soviet union was partly destroy by blue jeans and coke"

oh damn ain't that the truth lmao

by BIOHAPHAZARD; ; Report

well we may get taken out by tiktok and facebook... not much different if you think about it

by undefined; ; Report

i honestly wish communism had a way to work in practice, but i don't see it. maybe as society progresses it'll become feasible, but i won't hold my breath. socialism i can see working (look at norway) but it's got its own baggage of issues which don't have sustainable solutions. as of yet at least.
