Hey nerds!!!! When I woke up today, my PS3 arrived! So I basically spent my whole day hacking the thing. That was honestly the hardest hack I've done up to date lmao. Honestly console modding isn't very hard once someone's figured it out. But the PS3 was really hard to figure out and I had a lot of trial and error bullshit I had to go through. It took a whole lot of time, but I finally got some game dumps workin'!
Anyways, this is my 12th(?) console mod I think! I now have a modded dsi, two 3dses, switch, wii, wiiu, psp, psvita, and now a ps3! (I've also modded some consoles for friends before).
I'm very happy with the result, even if I started pulling my hair out while doing it lmao. Unfortunately, I have work tomorrow so I can't even spend that much time on it :( But uhhhh I'm still happy! All I really gotta do now is download some games and maybe get some fun PS2 stuff runnin'. I wonder if my new controller will connect to my steam deck...
If anyone has any suggestions for PS3 games, or even PS2 honestly, please share! I'd be more than happy to hear them!!! I'll probably take a few suggestions

if youre gonna run ps2 stuff on it theres a bunch of sonic games :D
some collections:
- sonic mega collection
- sonic gems collection (i believe it has sonic fighters on it?)
just games:
- sonic heroes (be warned. its a shit show to learn how to play)
- and sonic riders! although ive never played it
Hell yeah I love sonic hehe I definitely gotta play some of them on there. Even if the ps2 version of sonic heroes is considered to be the worst version lol

I love the PS3! Obviously there's the big titles like inFamous, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Little Big Planet; but there's a lot of games that got overlooked during this generation. Like Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Vanquish, and RAGE. There's also games that got overhyped and hated upon release, but are now considered underrated, like Watchdogs and Call of Duty Ghosts.
A PS2 game I recommend to everyone is Klonoa 2! I don't see how anyone could dislike it ^^'

the first ever game that ive ever played in my ENTIRE life was marvel vs capcom 3 fate of two worlds for the ps3, ive been playing this game since before i knew how to speak and i am telling you right now, you genuinely HAVE to play mvc3 or you will not have lived life to the fullest. also play umvc3 since its jus leik a better updated version of it and umvc3 got ported to new gen consoles so play both perhaps pls pls pls

How did you mod the ps3? Did you hook it up to your computer with a cable, then edited the code or how. I understand beginner coding, so explain to me like an idiot please
Its nothing like this, it's more of a find a good model thing and then just follow some PSX place tutorial. Fairly easy compared to GameCube or 360

I patched it with a site someone made and then I added custom firmware. I didn't have anything to do with the actual codding, I just soft modded it.

Nah it's normally done with a USB flash drive. The process and especially results is a bit different whether your specific model can support Custom Firmware or not but to put it simply, you trick the console into updating or reverting to a modified version of the PS3's OS via that USB flash drive.

the ps3 is so awesome!!! :D it was the console that introduced me to the dynasty warriors series, mainly 7e. but base game 7 is probably the better place to start for the story, unless you're more into strategy (then 7e would be better) i think 8's on it as well?

subscribing to the blog out of envy bc i gotta start doing what you're doing this is so cool can you give us some of the resources you used and where to learn the basic stuff? it's a dream of mine to be able to mod a console and i only recently got one (ps2) it's probably modded already, but i need to know how it went, you'd do me a big favor if you could guide me or give me a hint to where to start from <3

I don't have a modded ps2 though, at least not yet lol, because I actually know how to burn ps2 discs and force them to skip the anti piracy screen. If I remember correctly, its harder to hack a ps2 slim so if you have a slim that's the best way to go about it.
Anyways, if you wanna hack any of the consoles that appear on hacks.guide I HIGHLY recommend their site!!! Its so easy to follow and you can take each step at your own pace. haha yeah I was like so frustrated trying to get stuff to do what I wanted!!! I'm just glad the hard parts are over and now I can just have fun. And I did get it :) I had the application for my vita and I absolutely loved it there so I got it basically right away. Made stuff waaaay easier than it could've been
