Jumping the Couch so far

Hi all!

So recently I've gotten into a currently running Slenderverse ARG called "Jumping the Couch" (Link: https://www.youtube.com/@JumpingTheCouch). I've not finished the series yet but I am hoping to today. I'm currently up to their 23rd video (28 in total). I first heard of it on one of the more recent forums on the Creepypasta Fans group (Link: https://forum.spacehey.com/topic?id=192555) and it's honestly amazing and quickly becoming a hyper-fixation.

A quick overview of the channel is a group of friends prefer 2000's recording equipment and media so create a channel very reminiscent of that time. The series started 5 months ago and is still ongoing. (I know this all just sounds like I'm promoting it but I've had no part in making it, have never met, spoken to or contacted the people involved etc- honestly I just wanna infodump about it lol). If I miss anything let me know!

SPOILERS AHEAD

There are some things in videos that I've seen and want to comment on (as I have no one IRL who cares about the Slenderverse or ARG's).

The first major weird occurrence is the "Serene Car Drive" video. It's the classic jump-scare video except rather than the figure popping out, it switches to Smile Dog. However this video actually has a description, claiming it was a prank. This changes later as the actual weird videos don't have descriptions.

The next weird thing is a very minor radio glitch in the "Old Radios" at 3:46. Nothing else to say really.

There's then a LOT of video and audio distortion in the "JTC Camping Special", especially when in relation to the character Jones. She has a cough on the first day, and then feels very unwell the second day, ending up with a nosebleed. (both of which are symptoms of Slender Sickness in the old ARG's like Marble Hornets and EverymanHYBRID). At 21:23 in the video it looks like there is a figure behind Jones, but I'm the only person to point it out in the comments and it's amidst strong video distortion so I could be wrong. 

The video "Coping with ADHD" is the first time anything specifically Slenderman (other than the Slender Sickness symptoms which can be easily explained away). Amidst the other post-it notes on Jones's wall, there is one at 0:31 which is clearly the no-face symbol (First originating in Marble Hornets and then becoming the go-to symbol of Slenderman: ⦻). Two videos later, in "The Fort" is where things start to kick off. After finding a weird box/bag of seemingly random items (I'm sure there's a code or reason but I don't know what it is) and a pill (which I can assume could be something like the Slender Sickness pills like those in Marble Hornets) Jones ends up attacking another character called EZ. She seems to loose control, and the video ends with EZ's face covered in blood, and Jones sitting on a tree after licking a little of EZ's blood from her hand. She seems unresponsive. Something is very wrong. There is no description to this video.

The next video ("heyo") is just Jones taking for a few min. There is no mention of the previous entry, but she seems more than a little "off".

The next video is the first one that seems completely wrong, from start to finish. First, there's the title. It's a string of numbers and letters: 2BOF0570.MOV . I can't figure out what the first part means, but .MOV is a QuickTime movie file developed by Apple and primarily used for storing video, audio and text data. Because I can't decode the first part, I theorize that the title is just the automatic name given to the recording when it's saved. The whole video is a dark, sideways video of a forest, with a lot of beeping as the audio and green video distortion. There is no description, but another video is linked underneath.

This is the last video that I'm up to currently. This is the video called "GU1LTY" that is accessed through the link on the video "2BOF0570.MOV". It is on a separate channel just called

Ω . (Sorry it's big my copy/paste is weird). More on the name of the channel later. The video is heavily distorted and starts from a shot from "The Fort" but recorded at a different angle. Other clips are played, like a monochromatic spider. Text appears stating "what have I caused", "I didn't want this", "so much pain" and " im so sorry". From these words combined with the shots from "The Fort", where Jones attacked EZ, I can theorize that Jones is behind this.

There's more however. Within the video there is a string of letters: qb lbh xabj, jung, lbh, unir, pnhfrq

This is actually a ciphered message (Caesar cipher to be specific- the letters in the alphabet have been shifted so q=d, which means that it's a shift of 13) that translates to "Do you know what you have caused?". After I worked this out however I realised that someone else in the comments of "2BOF0570.MOV" already had done (comments for "GU1LTY" are turned off).

However there is one thing I've not yet seen anyone mention (reminder- I'm 5 video's behind so someone in a future video may have mentioned this) is the name of the second channel. The symbol means Angular Frequency. A frequency in hertz can be converted to angular frequency by multiplying it by 2pi. So I tried speeding up the video by two. When sped up the audio does sound better and more cohesive like eerie music. Same for "2BOF0570.MOV". But I can't tell if there actually is a hidden code. "2BOF0570.MOV" sounds like it could perhaps have Morse code when sped up (but I'm really bad at deciphering that so I haven't tried yet). Equally this could be redundant for now and the "Speeding up by 2" thing may only be useful later. I'm sure it will be useful later though, as why else would the second channel be called that?

ANYWAY I'm going to go watch the last five videos- I may make another upload if I think it's worth it. Once my voice is back I may make a video on explaining what's happened so far and my theories on this channel- I've been meaning to make my YT channel about the Slenderverse but haven't got round to it yet. Would anyone be interested if I did?

OKAY HI- so I've no finished the remaining videos and I have a LOT to say.

First of all, I was wrong about the first time anything specifically Slenderman happening in "Coping with ADHD"- Slenderman himself makes an appearance at 6.55 in "Old Radio's", and even before that there's a shadowy figure at 13.52 in "Video Blog" which could also be Slenderman, though it doesn't seem like it as it's missing it's iconic white no-face.

Second, I've realised some of you may not know who Smile Dog is. To explain it very briefly, Smile Dog is a creepypasta that looks like a distorted and smiling husky dog. People who view his picture will have nightmares about him, which is him trying to get them to "Spread the Word" and send the picture to someone else- basically it's a dog that gives you nightmares which get progressively worse if you don't partake in chain mail. Now, onto the remaining videos! The first one I want to talk about is called "A monitor and thoughts". In the video, two monitors are shown (despite the video saying "monitor" which is singular- more on that later). The description is just "I want to think". Due to the low lighting it's really hard to see who is watching the monitors. On one monitor is Jones, and the other is the Serene Car Drive/first smile dog video. The video is weird and I have no doubt I'm missing something, I'm just not sure what.

The next video is no doubt one of the most disturbing so far. It has no name, and depicts a distorted Smile Dog accompanied with slowed and distorted audio text. Even sped up, it's hard to make out. That's when I realised- back to my previous link to the omega symbol- to quote myself "The symbol means Angular Frequency. A frequency in hertz can be converted to angular frequency by multiplying it by 2pi. So I tried speeding up the video by two". But now I realise it's not 2x that the video needs to be sped up- it's roughly 6x, as 2xpi = 2x3.14 = 6.28x. When sped up, you can make out what is being said, even through the audio corruption:

"We've never seen you behave this way befor-"

"I know"

"have you ever felt this way before?

This comes from a clip from about a decade ago of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprahs couch. This is the event that the channel is named after, which was explained by the cannel members in their early Q&A.

A day later, in "Channel Update" though, it is revealed that apparently none of the members uploaded the previous video, and that someone broke into their channel. That's not all that's revealed in this video though. It's also shown that Jones is struggling with her memory, as also alluded to in the video on her ADHD. She has to have notes reminding her which toothbrush is hers, when to brush her hair, along with other tasks, to the point of it seeming excessive. It’s then shown that she has no memory at all of attacking EZ in the fort video. Something is clearly very wrong here.

The next video is also disturbing. It stars of just as EZ checking up on Finn, as the crew hasn’t hear from him in a while. Upon entering his house and looking around for a while, he finds Finn, blood staining the surroundings. He’s unconscious. EZ makes a call and the video ends.

The next video is more light-hearted, giving another update on the channel. Finn is okay (thank goodness), but the members have now been made aware of the figures that have been appearing, that I actually missed earlier on as I mentioned earlier. In this video there are a few hidden messages. When put together, they create a link to an unlisted video on the mysterious second channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0VH_5H9McQ. There is lots of audio and visual distortion, which someone in the comments (credit to FuggetWeeble:  https://www.youtube.com/@FuggetWeeble) managed to decode, which could either mean "Ambushing?" or "Le Ambushing?".  Another thing pointed out by Fugget is way there seems to be a lot of imagery about copies or alternates. In their own words: “i never actually caught that in between the two videos, there seems to be a lot of imagery about copies, or alternates? or mirrors/reflections or there's imagery representing that one is not like the others, for example theres a few Deathnote Black Edition mangas next to an twilight novel, so the spines shows an apple, and 3 skulls. or the Red Green Tomatoes album where one tomato is green and the rest are red. most of this imagery is in videos within Jones's room. as far as the copies go (or even duplicates) is talking about the different covers of the song "down by the park" by Tubeway Army.” . I’d like to add to this that there could be a link with Jones and how she can't remember attacking EZ. I know this could be completely unrelated, but it reminds me a lot of Marble Hornets and how Tim couldn't remember doing things as Masky- his "alternate". Additionally there's another reference to alternates in the "A monitor and thoughts" video- it says "A monitor" which is singular, but there are two monitors playing- one with Jones on it and the other with the Serene Car Drive Smile Dog video.

As of the time of writing this, a new video has been published called “Beach Day”. Apart from some discussion about the events leading up till now, not much happens, until some binary flashes across the screen at about 4:04 - it moves from the bottom left, to the bottom right, to the top left, to the top right, and then in the middle. It changes so fast even on 0.25x speed. Also it changes from black to white a lot. I've been trying to decode it for almost an hour now lol. It's defo 8-bit binary and I got some letters and numbers when I've translated it, but now I'm such. I though it was maybe another link to the weird second channel, but it doesn't work. A few minutes again, Fugget came to the rescue with their comment: “ "Have You Sought The ____" i can't figure out the last one, it's either intentionally missing or something else. i have to assume "Have You Sought The Sheep" which may be referencing a hymn. and i only say this because the hymn specifically references Ezekiel 34. but until i can figure out the rest of it this is just speculation.”

That's all of it so far at the point of writing this (30/60/25) but yeah. Just thought this was super cool and right up my street lol
