I miss completely linear, tells you exactly what to do and where to go, Pokémon games...nobody else does! I'm alone in this!
Pokémon scarlets really cool really awesome yes fun yay but.... i'm lost... mommy i'm lost i wanna go home
Pokémon are easier to find (not really... but.. eevee is), you get everything pretty immediately, you can buy evolution stones, but.... they don't tell you the order of anything, i'm under leveled all game, there's to much going on it's... A lot for my feeble ADHD ridden mind.
it took me 3 years to even complete base game the first time
I beat sw/sh like 7 times in the time i was trying* to beat scarlet
*(playing it until I was burntout because playing it drained me so bad... repeat until game is beat)
They give you the box legendary first thing in the game during the actual tutorial... and he's UGLY!! i hate him!!! he's better in violet but he's still... strange..
Pokémon scarlet is just not fun to me, I'm currently playing ultra sun for the first time since I was 6 or 7 and yes it IS linear and straight to the point, they give you a path they give you a yappenator rival they give you a little phone that talks to you but the legendary isn't an ugly ridable dragon that doesn't even use the wheels it just has.
Also you can pet you're pokemon and take care of them
...what could be better?
The customization also really sucks in scarlet which... that point has been beaten like a piñata that makes speedcore music but it's a good point! Gamefreaks favorite thing to do is add really fun things in previous games and then RIP THEM AWAY FROM YOU AFTER YOU GROW TO LOVE AND CHERISH THEM.... I miss petting and cleaning my Pokémon... I miss making cute outfits for my in game character.... I think.. I miss... my decorative curry...
I never played the games before Pokémon sun/moon I wasn't even a concept when red/green came out my parents were like... 13.
BUT! I DID!play with the rockruff in iki town for 30 minutes straight (he loves me now btw)
and that genuinely added so much personality to that game alone! Pokémon scarlet has to real personality, It feels so bland and corporate?? Everything feels too lumped together in that game if that makes sense? Everything feels like theres no real direction to motive no love in the game.
Being able to feed and groom my Pokémon in sun/moon and cooking and playing with my Pokémon in sw/sh made me feel so connected to my team and the game in general, all we have is picnics in scarlet/violet and kinda kicking a ball around, the washing mechanic barley feels like anything it doesn't effect anything.
scarlet/violet feels like such an unfinished nothing burger even after a few years.
in sun/moon the rivals and characters felt like something at the least, in scarlet the characters feel like one note bland tutorials with some backstory jammed in there. Nemona has nothing to her except "I like to battle and I'm the champion!" and all arven is is mommy issues and his dog. (penny's cute I'm bias because my fave Pokémon are the eeveelutions... but she's boring too)
The rival teams too! in sun/moon team skull was so much fun! their little dance moves were silly and they were really funny they're my favorite team to this day! But in scarlet/violet, and even sw/sh, the rival teams are lack luster. team yell was at least something they were fun but I didn't care for them. I was exited for team star at first because they SOUNDED awesome! Only to turn out boring... Team star grunts are simply a nuisance they aren't funny they aren't fun at all they're just there and they're there so rarely you only encounter them in the first bit on the game then they aren't part of anything again. The leaders are a tiny bit better but again they aren't a part of any real story at all they're only there to defeat and then get some backstory for penny, They have to real character they have no real personality, I dislike them.
Also Hop is the most annoying rival ever in gaming... His only personality trait is "my brother is the champion and I suck"...
That's all I really have to say... The open world stuff is fun but I wish it were toned down a little, I don't need three different paths that all lead to the exact same ending with ed sheeren in the credits it's just too much. I haven't played the DLC yet but I'm hoping to get it soon.
Sorry I tend to ramble I like to sperate all my thoughts and none of them make sense.
toodles!

I should get the SV DLC soon myself but I'm thinking this'll be it for the mainline games. Thought about picking up Z-A but now I'm not so sure
