My thoughts on the DK Bananza direct

Well, I'm a bit late on this, but no matter

The beginning of the direct introduces us to DK's new companion. The aforementioned purple clump of coal turns out to be more than just a boring piece of rock... it's actually, a younger Pauline...

Sitting right where Diddy kong is usually... (💔)

While I would prefer Diddy as the usual companion, I will exit my comfort zone and say that I really don't mind this fully. I think it's a cute twist having DK be Pauline's guardian, rather than their assumed dynamic (kidnapper and kidnapped)

'Suppose this does bring confusion--if my memory serves me right--the kong we see in the arcade DK game is supposed to be a younger cranky and the damsel in distress, Pauline. But here we see a young Pauline with our modern DK, who is Crankys supposed grandchild? Well, Nintendo must hate consistency in the DK franchise... They can't seem to decide whether DK is cranky's son or grandchild...

Not to mention cranky, in all his elderly glory, IS in Bananza. Make it make sense Nintendo...

Speaking of familiar Kongs, guess who we see for a few split seconds in the direct??

If you said Bluster the Benevolent, you are unfortunately, incorrect. The answer was...

DIDDY, DIXIE AND RAMBI!! WOOHOO!!! YEAH!!! (ignore the quality...)

You also see them a tiny bit earlier in the direct running a stand.

While I'm not thrilled they won't have any major role (I'm going to have to assume) in the game, I'm glad we've got some returns nonetheless.

Of course, their return isn't that much of a surprise considering Diddy recently just got new renders, and well, they're still crucial and prominent characters in this franchise. Nintendo wasn't just going to lay off our favorite Kong's like they did with our certain favorite villainous reptilians... (This is the part where I complain about the Kremlings not making a return)

Again, I like the VoidCo monkeys. I think they're cool. With Nintendo wanting to go on a more modern take with this game, I think these villains fit the role perfectly. But the KREMLINGS!!! I WANT MY K. ROOL BACK!!!

On a serious note, I see why Nintendo went with newer villains here. The kremlings wouldn't have worked without some serious adaptation. It's defend-able here, but NOT in tropical freeze! You can't convince me Nintendo wasn't making serious excuses when they made TF's Villains! YOU CAN'T!

Well, I'm out of rambling. Next time you see me whining about this game again is when we get to see the final product probably...

Rant over
