gardening and technology addiction

when im older and have my own home i could grow a garden. food is a little pricey now so maybe if i grow a garden... i dont know, words. i love fresh fruits especially raspberries, black berries and strawberries. funny story; when i was younger and me and my dad were in a shop, if he saw a punnet of fruit that was open he'd secretly take some and give them to me to eat

i feel tired, not tired like sleepy but its something else; too much screen time? definitely.. ive been thinking of buying an old phone to "help" because ive been seeing people do that on youtube and stuff and they say it helped them and sometimes they didnt even want to go back to their usual devices. but the thing is i mostly use my computer and if i dont have my computer its my phone, i hate how addictive it all is and im very aware of it too but i cant seem to get out of it because i have the feeling that if i dont, FOMO, if im not on it something is wrong (like im sad or something even though im not but since im not on it like usual something HAS to be wrong), when i sit down somewhere i automatically take out my phone or use my computer and im aware of it - why is technology made to be so addicting, it wasn't like that when it was first created and got popular in the 90s right??

I am literally growing potatoes on my balcony lol. I know you want to grow fruits but in the meantime, if you have a balcony or a little outside space, you can try growing “easy” vegetables. Like carrots, potatoes, beans, lettuce, things like that. Not as fun as growing fruits but it will help you learn the basics of gardening if you haven’t already. As for old phones, I think that’s a great idea if that’s something you really want to do. Technology is very addicting for some odd reason.

I feel like buying a flip phone isn't the best option.
Not only because you have to spend money to get something, not all flip phones are equal, some networks/features don't work anymore.
But the real art, I believe, is living in peace with your smartphone. Now, my screen time is not optimal at all either, I don't more or better than you. But what I can tell you is, I have deleted every social media off my phone, only ways to text people, and it has helped a lot with impulsive behaviour, if I sit down, I can't immediately watch reels, or YouTube shorts or TikTok's.
I watch YouTube, on my iPad if I want to, but it's not as impulsive.
There is way more you can do probably, you can start cutting screen time, but the world still spins the same, even if I don't watch reels.

Honestly I agree with you about the flip phone thing and they're quite expensive too - at least some of the ones I've seen. I've been considering deleting some apps like you've said off my phone too and only keep messaging apps, my digital art software and spotify - can't live without music although I do have CDs but I need to buy a CD player lol (I've had tiktok deleted for a long while now, i never liked it :P).
I did try cutting down screen time before and going outside more than usual and it was very beneficial because 1. outside and 2. I felt happier... then slowly but surely I fell back into the technology spiral. I actually will try it again since you said it and also delete some apps I really don't bother with (looking at instagram), so thanks :D

Yeah the spiral makes sense!
But if you believe in it, you can make it, really. And I am certain you really want change, it is such a flex to live with your smartphone, not addicted!!!
Keep the Spotify, Cd's are cool but you shouldn't buy a player just because you wanna detox.
I have seen people that don't have a phone, or have a flip phone, and a Nintendo to play games on, and a camera, and a notebook. Which is fine, it's a different lifestyle. But I think you just want to use your phone less, and your phone is such a useful tool, camera, notes, calls, texts, books, even the internet!!!
Just, a few things are designed to keep you hooked, if you can fight that, your phone becomes a different tool.
I could also suggest "phone free times" for example, do not use your phone for one hour after waking up, same with going to bed, no phone at the table, not even in your pocket, maybe 1-2 hours of phone free during the afternoon, just a few suggestions!
