Zatanna/Dick > Barbara/Dick

I really liked Zatanna and Dick's banter, honestly. And the cutest scene had to be when Zatanna whooped him in the season 1 finale, I have a GIF of it but I have zero clue how to put GIFs in spacehey. Oh they were so adorable. I think I just really really loved season 1 Dick, his nonchalantness (when Artemis and robin were the only ones that weren't captured yet and artemis was screaming about M'gann about to die and robin just said with a faint smile you seem distraught. my nonchalant king.) I am very much still upset over the change in season 2 so that's why i'm still in episode 2, kind of reluctant to move on. I will soon. I hope.  

But maybe I just liked them together cause they were short and sweet. I don't like Barbara x Dick so much for a handful of reasons, and maybe because they had such a long runtime for their relationship it managed to give them so much conflict, so much mistakes. Barb and Dick were intellectually equal and everything. Oh but justice for my girl. She was written so poorly sometimes. (coughcoughcoughbatmanxbatgirlcoughcoughcough) But at some point it stopped being about them and became what fans just expected. they're the OTP because they've always been around. Not really love but just.. nostalgia? And I like that he's settled. He's a well-developed character who shouldn't be hopping around love interests too much.

Barb is methodical and grounded. And okay, she brings out the best in Nightwing's abilities, i guess? but Dick is literally visibly more tense around her. She criticises his reckless decisions and he snaps back, it's emotionally loaded. I guess it's realistic, to an extent? But i'd rather him be with someone who understands it differently. She's the 'voice of reason' and it makes Dick self-conscious, defensive about his impulsiveness. With Barbara, he's still Robin, he's still Batman's sidekick somewhat. Cause they grew up together and they see each other in more ways than one. Zatanna saw Robin as Robin. She rarely ever saw Robin beside Batman but with the team. I like how she views Dick. I also like when his love interest doesn't know his secret identity. Dunno why. 

He doesn't have to carry any emotional baggage from the Batfamily around Zatanna. She only knows the surface and that's what I love the most. Only the slick moves and the over-nonchalantness. Her ignorance of it is a bliss, gives him space to be himself, no need to prove or justify. Zatanna accepts Dick as how he presents himself. That's all she'll know. To her, his lack of distraught in situations makes sense. That's Batman's successor, that's B-01. 

No one needs to agree with me, I get why people like Barbara x Dick. Uh. I just don't. Thanks for reading!!!!!!!!!
