Riot - Paramore
Riot was my introduction to anything emo-adjacent. I know technically their music itself isn't emo, maybe influenced at best. That being said, my mom loved this album and she always reminded me of that when songs like Misery Business ended up on the radio.
Strengths: Hayley's vocals have always been and always will be transcendent and timeless. She can do so much with what seems like so little effort. I think the band backs her up properly. I also like the commentaries on growing up and spirituality that fits well for their ages at the time.
Weaknesses: I used to hear that all Paramore songs sound the same. I don't remember where from. While I disagree for the most part, I think some songs on this album serve similar purposes or maybe stand out less. Those songs are still good though obviously.
This is my favorite Paramore album and probably always will be just because of nostalgia. I don't connect with all of their projects like I do with this album, but I think they are one of the most fun and talented groups of our generation, and I feel lucky to have gotten to grow up through the ups and downs of it all.
