I need capes to come back into fashion for this winter. I have a feeling about it coming back soon, I can see the seeds of the Gossip Girl inspirations and this is a NESSESITY for that. My arms can be free AND I can be warm. This is the goal.
The straight silhouette is in trend, and I think this will add to the maximalist in alternative cultures AND in the "off duty model" mainstream trends. Let me know what you guys think.
I personally am planning on bringing this back on my own, but please tell me bluntly if this would make me look pretentious.
I also love how it can add to the hat craze happening now. The virtually nonexistent hat era in the early 2010's only recovering with the bucket hat in 2017 on makes me soul cry. I am a hat girlie. Britney spears was a hat girlie. If you want to hear me talk about hats I will probably make another post about it.
This picture to the left I feel is a good example of a more 2021 styles version of the cape. Imagine the leather pants were sheer tights with a mini skirt and platform boots. If I ever put together an outfit like that I will post it. I know I keep asking questions, but I really am so curious what other people think about this. How would you guys style a cape? I don't know; maybe I am reaching with this, but I think it is a natural development from cottagecore into a more 'professional' 'socially acceptable' look.
