What happened to McDonald's?

So I've been going to McDonald's randomly every blue moon but the thing i noticed in recent years is that the wait for food has become a lot longer. i can understand if the place is backed up during lunch but most of the times i go there it's empty and they still have me pull off to the side, is there a reason for doing this aside from making more room in the drive through? it always felt as if the speed of McDonald's food has dramatically slowed. if there is a McDonald's employee reading this can you explain why every McDonald's is seemingly slower now? is there some new policy or is it a simple understaffed problem?
