Grieving Marineford (one piece)

the marineford arc in one piece really did a number on me. i know i watched it about a month ago but i cant seem to get over it. the fact that both Ace AND Edward Newgate (Whitebeard) died on the same day makes me want to cry again

and oda had THE AUDACITY to show baby Ace, Sabo, and Luffy right after Ace's speech. i cried so hard my eyes felt dry. Ace is my favourite character ever and his death still haunts me to this day.

But you know what? his death impacted the story so much and so did Whitebeard's. If he hadn't died luffy wouldn't have learnt haki from Rayleigh and gotten stronger (same with the rest of the crew). If he hadn't died, Luffy wouldn't have been able to save fishman island or Dressrosa kingdom. He wouldn't have been able to get gear 4 or 5. that much is obvious. 

As for Whitebeard, if he hadn't died, Blackbeard wouldn't have been able to get his devil fruit. Whitebeard is super overlooked in the story but his death was made into a joke.
