[𝔦 • ──⃝─⃝⃝⃝⃝──] "끈 이둠" μš”μ•½ String Theory - summary

β€œtiny multidimensional vibrations of matter undetectable in our space-time may be the basis of everything we see in the universe”

the quantum universe still holds many mysteries that seem inexplicable if we are guided by the conventional idea that particles interact in space and time. so physicists have been focusing on a deeper, more panoramic view of the subatomic realm:

the particles we observe not only occupy the four dimensions of space-time, but at the same time, they occupy other dimensions that we cannot yet see or quantify.

the particles in our universe would therefore be partial manifestations of super-dimensional β€œstrings” of energy. the interactions between these strings, which always vibrate and occur in up to eleven dimensions, are what produce all the particles in our universe.

considering the following simplified analogy: plucking a guitar string, the string has its own length, thickness, composition, etc.; depending on how you look at it, it can look like a point, a line, and maybe even a circle when it vibrates.

when it does, it produces sound waves that can be heard. now imagine that string, coming into contact with other guitar strings vibrating at different rates. if all the strings produced their own tones with their own movements, what kind of new tones, rhythms, or harmonies could be produced? Guitar strings are only three-dimensional; what incredible variety of behaviors could eleven-dimensional strings produce?

quite possibly, everything in the universe.

all particles in our universe may be a mere four-dimensional projection of an eleven-dimensional vibrating β€œstring.”

how can there be dimensions that are not detected? one possible answer is the so-calledΒ <comparison>Β - an idea pioneered by, among others, the swedish physicist oskar klein - according to which dimensions can be so small that they compact one inside the other and become invisible.

from a distance, a piece of wire may appear to be a one-dimensional line, but to an ant walking around it, the wire will appear to have three dimensions (length, width and depth).
