From personal experience I think the best way to start/ do tarot is to journal it.
I write down my question(s) first, pull my cards, write down the card and its meaning, and then my interpretation of that card and how it applies to the question asked or my situation. It takes me like 30 min - 1hr depending on the complexity but it helps me understand better, keeps me relaxed/ grounded, and I can always look back at old entries to see if I have improved any or how I handled a similar situation in the past.
Eventually you'll do it enough times to have cards memorized but I still like the keep track of everything.
