Welcome to Wicked Band Wednesday, a new addition to my weekly routine where I post (possibly) lesser-known band recommendations of which I listen to (Or just recently discovered). 'Unfortunately' for all of you, I am not the biggest fan of writing super long and thought out blogs about each individual part of a band's sound at this moment in time, so I will dumb down my thoughts as much as physically possible for your sake.
Today we have gothic metal ensemble Light of the Morning Star, who has been in my daily rotation for months now. Coming from a lover of all things vampiric, dark, and satanic - they scratch an itch that most modern bands usually can't scratch.
Their newest EP 'Wings in the Night Sky' is wonderfully foreboding, with vocals dripping with so much sinister intent that it has me licking my fingers after listening. As an enjoyer of slow, gothic, drag-you-to-your-deathbed sounding music - LOTMS is perfect for the lovers of such a mood.
In particular, their track 'Phantomlights' has been on repeat during my late evening walks due to just how fitting it is for a lonely trudge through the woods. While listening, I can shut my eyes and imagine laying in a serene and still body of water. It is the perfect mixture of sorrow and loathing for someone who spends so much time doing the latter.
I will not recommend a particular release for you to listen to, as I believe there isn't necessarily a wrong choice with this band. If you enjoy a dark atmosphere with your music, you should be able to find a release you enjoy from LOTMS.
You can find their bandcamp here.
FFO: Moonspell, Katatonia, Tiamat
