Hello y'all ＞﹏＜, quite down today because of some family stuff but whatever. Today in the menu it's Frankenstein , but car edition and yes I'm talking about a Mercedes but also not entirely a Mercedes. I present you the weirdest and also the most ambitious car made by the Germans and also the British. Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce you to the Mercedes McLaren SLR:

                        Origins

Back in 2003 Mercedes owned 40% of the McLaren asr they were in partnership "engine supplier" with McLaren F1 Team:

And Mercedes wanted to make a Supercar in order to compete against other Manufacturers like Porsche with their Carrera GT and Ferrari with their Enzo (check my other blog ^_~) so since they bought a Manufacturer who literally made the fastest car in the whole world back in 1992 and still the fastest N/A 'til this day:McLaren F1
Oohh a car with F1 parts, who wants it ? And Mercedes having ///AMG as an engine tuner soo everything will go alright ? right ?.....

                                    THE SLR PROJECT:

The both Manufacturers had specific purposes: McLaren was responsible for the Chassis and the Aero, chassis in other words it's literally Full Carbon fiber:

So sharp and so rigid, that's something you can see in only race cars since they wanted a direct successor for the McLaren F1, the aero MY GOD: 
You have the car design being smooth allowing the air to go more flawlessly, the Diffuser allowing even more aero effect, the active aero system has 2 functions: one being a spoiler and the other is a braking system when it goes all the way up. And the ground effect being....literally taken from a F1 car.

And the other side of the spectrum you have Mercedes being the mechanical maker by first asking ///AMG to use a tuned version of the M113k used in 55 AMG models:                                      M113K

This a 5.4 V8 Supercharged outputting 450HP and 700NM of torque, so it's a more of a Torquy engine and ///AMG decided to make an evolution of it being the M155 V8 5.4 outputting 626HP and 800NM of torque:Sure with all of that this can create the ultimate super car right ? well Mercedes said yes and also no, let me explain:
Mercedes being MERCEDES decided to shove a GOD FORSAKEN 5 speed Torque converting Automatic Gearbox which is INSANELY heavy and why not, S Class level of Luxury because their average customers were all old geezers, well i don't think "these" old geezers will understand what the fuck is going on with what's going on being: the very low driving position, slow gearbox and screaming engine thanks to the side exhausts.
Yeaahhhh, well they all tried something, sure it didn't work as it should but still, they made an excellent car.

So in the end Mercedes decided to let go McLaren in 2010 prior to Mercedes finally being a full F1 team.
McLaren in the process made the MP4-12c:
And Mercedes building in partnership the SLS:Also did you know that the SLR was a reference to an old Mercedes Race car ? the 300 SLR.
