UGHHHH can we talk about how annoying it is when people get mad at you for doing something, but when someone else does the exact same thing it's suddenly ''not a big deal''??? Like HELLOOO double standards much??
It literally happened to me this week. I was on my phone during lunch (like literally just checking a message), and this teacher gave me THE look and told me to ''put it away and be present.'' Fair enough. BUT THEN... five minutes later another student (you know, one of the ''favos'') pulls out their phone and starts scrolling Instagram out in the open and guess what? Not a single word said. Not even a glance.
And it's not just teachers. Friends do it too. Like if I cancel plans because I'm tired, I'm ''so flakey'' and ''never show up.'' But when THEY cancel, it's ''self-care'' and ''totally understandable.'' MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
It's honestly so exhausting having to constantly explainn yourself for stuff others just get a free pass on. And if you call it out? ''You're being dramatic'' or ''you're overthinking.'' Bitch tf no i'm not. I just want to be tretaed fairly for once withouth being the bad guy.
Anyway, if you've ever felt this too, you're not alone. I see you. And we all deserve to not be judged by double standars just because we're not people's favorite or most ''expected'' person to do things.
Vent over. Sending love to everyone who's ever been unfairly called out for simply existing.
