Buddhists, Atheists, and more, are identifying as "Evangelical" in surveys, while remaining in their otherwise non-Christian faiths, or lack-there-of.
The term evangelical is less about religion and more about politics-intertwined-with-religion. Specifically, conservatism. A Buddhist who wants to take your church away and force you to become Buddhist - is an Evangelical Buddhist.
