it baffles me as a non native english speaker how 'you' is used so flexibly

like, there is no 'you' for being polite, or there's no 'you' for being frank, or even rude. They're all the same 'you', you just have to rely on your tone

like wdym the 'you' i use with my parents/elders is the same as the 'you' i use with my siblings/friends
