your thoughts/opinions

what do you feel/think about artists who use real-life "gore" pictures for reference?

i dont care, but i do care about the artists mental health when looking for pictures, because it can be tedious trying to find a decent reference or a reference one wants. i vaguely remember coming across a few tiktok posts- the OP explaining that its... unethical (it mightve not been this word) to go on shock + gore sites for references and to use fictional gore (shows, movies, etc, etc, etc) instead. i dont know if the OP meant it in a "using real-life 'gore' pictures is unfair to the victims family and friends" or "its not mentally healthy, so use fictional gore," maybe it was both- but for the following years, its been in the back of my mind and it oftentimes irks me (the "using real-life 'gore' pictures is unfair to the victims family and friends" viewpoint...? stance...? belief...?)

anyway, im biased about the unfairness stance but not the how it can negatively affect mental health stance. ive used real-life pictures since late middle school because its real, its accurate compared to fiction. i dont think ill ever use a show or movie for reference, but if you do, thats okay. have it cater to you, youre the one using it and drawing
