Where Love Blooms (A Jareau Family Novel Book 1) by Kimberly Brown

I’m not big on African American romance. Not because it’s not good, but because, I DON’T HAVE A DAMN MAN. My habitual bouts of loneliness aside, I decided to give this one a try and oh what a joy it was! Meet Jamison and Aleviyah – the Black McDreamy and the bombshell live-in Nanny. After losing the love of his life (and what a beautiful love it was) and after years of caring for his four children in a single day, Jamison relents to the cries of his mother in-law and hires a nanny to assist in caring for his children. I’m sure you can guess what happens next, right? Okay, good. So I won’t get into all of that. What I will say though is, i loved the LOVE in this book – familial and romantic. The entire book I wanted for the other shoe to drop, and there were a few zingers, the moment never happened. And I loved that for the characters. Because ultimately and especially Black folk, we deserve love that is emotionally stable & mature, communicative, tender, nurturing, and soft – and that’s exactly what both Jamison and Aleviyah received from each other. Reciprocal effort and reciprocal feelings. I’ve committed myself to reading all of the books in this series and the spin off (books detailing Jamison’s 3 brother’s and sister’s quest for love and a novella series about all of their wedding days….sooooo cute, right?

But don’t expect a review in this series for another month or two, I’m still trying to ease my way into romance (with the help of therapy, of course lol…or not ). Anywho, happy reading all you hopeless romantics, you’re going to love this one.
