The Scariest Thing that has happened to You

I remember when I was like 5 ish I woke up in the middle of the night but I couldn't open my eyes. I rubbed them but it's like my eyelashes locked together. I tried to call out for my mom but I couldn't talk. I kept trying and eventually heard someone or something walk up to my bedroom door. For some reason I knew my door was open even though I never slept with it open. Whatever it was stood at the threshold of my room not moving. I started to mumble for my mom finally making some sort of noise. When I was able to get the word "mom" out I kept repeating thinking whoever would come in and help me. Then I thought maybe it was my older brother. I told him to go get mom cause I couldn't open my eyes.
What is scary to me is that I can't remember anything after. I can’t remember if whatever was in my doorway walked away. I can’t remember if my mom came and woke me up or if I just fell back asleep. I have no closure on what happened to me that night. It’s never happened again.
I could chalk this up to sleep paralysis but those footsteps. I felt a presence. I know something was there. I could feel it staring at me. It didn’t feel evil or good. It just was.
