Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)

On one of trapped housewife Evelyn Couch's Wednesday nursing home visits, she encounters Ninny Threadgoode, a colorful old woman who brightens Evelyn's outlook by sharing tales from her past. As Ninny recounts the exploits of her free-spirited sister-in-law Idgie, owner of a small Alabama café in the 1920s, and the bond Idgie shared with her friend Ruth, Evelyn gains the confidence to change her own life for the better.

(It isn't explicitly stated that it's a lesbian movie, but TRUST ME, cuz everything I say about movies is gospel, this movie has a strong lesbian subtext.)

My Policeman (2022)

Tom, a policeman in 1950s Britain, falls in love with a schoolteacher on the Brighton coast. However, he soon begins a passionate same-sex affair with a museum curator, despite homosexuality being illegal.

(Though it's an overplayed theme of forbidden love, it's still emotional and touching. There are a lot of sex scenes, so I will warn you about that.)

Kill Your Darlings (2013)

Thriller/Romance

In 1944, young Allen Ginsberg had a rival for the affections of his charismatic classmate Lucien Carr. When the rival is found dead, Carr, William Burroughs, and Jack Kerouac are arrested for murder.

(If you like the dark academia aesthetic, you'll like this. This is based on true events, and recently Luca Guadagnino, the director of CMBYN, came out with an adaptation of William Burroughs's Queer. I haven't watched it yet, but you guys should check it out.)
