genuine question. things that were not considered cringe before are cringe now, or more people are finding it cringe. not talking about bad things, but things like hobbies and harmless behaviors, like having a certain voice tone or way of expressing ourselves.
example : i have an expressive voice and face, i am an emotional person and full of feelings, so i am putting a particular emotional tone in my voice, as many other people do. and as you may saw, i do write a lot on a simple subject, making it an entire essay... but the numerous times ive been told "cringe" "overreacting" "too loud" "weird"...
being emotional is human and i feel like we are getting torn down for it, the more the time passes by the more insensitive we get - so when someone has some kind of sensitivity, they're "overreacting", like "the world kept spinning" or "its not that deep". if expressing myself in a normal human way too expressive for you, shouldnt you ask yourself some questions? dont you think you are the overreacting one? "its not that deep" yes it is and emotional depth is human. emotional people are taken as fools, when in reality, they have a deep sense of thinking and diverse perceptions of things - at least in my experience.
are basic human traits becoming cringe? thats really worrying. will breathing air become cringe someday? will sleep become cringe? will basic human necessities become cringe? i feel like its already the case, if you something a certain way considered in the standard of "cringe", youre "cringe"...
i feel like those people finding certain things cringe, are in fact people that have low self esteem, and due to that low self esteem cannot do that thing, so they put down others, and calling them cringe to make their insecurity the normality.
anyways FUCK CRINGE AND EDGY CULTURE!!!!! be cringe be free make an evil wolf oc if u want. be emo and make sad edgy videos of urself singing over ur fav band. who cares!!!!!!
by edgy i mean non harmful things that r considered edgy or cringe nowadays not those gore or murder fans edgelords........
(btw idk what category to put this, so i put life, also i hope i made sense lol)

It's the internet, a lot of things about it. Men are being radicalized into hating women and hyperanalyzing their facial features, when the issue is that they lack true confidence in THEMSELVES. People are thinking less, they don't do research on topics and take whatever videos they see at face value. The introduction to generative AI doesn't help as people are relying on it, either out of laziness or loneliness. The way people act changed during Covid because of the isolation. There is a loneliness epidemic because of the lack of community, and many will do anything for it as long as they feel accepted despite changing their whole personality for someone else.
