8. ✩✩ Last year Italy, Rome blog! (photos) ✩✩

Last year we went to our first non beach related 1 week holiday... and man oh man we neevr walked this much in our lives, there was so much to see! Specificaly we went to Rome! We chose worst year to visit the city since everything was under construcation :")) They were preparing for Jubilee and a lot of stuff was hidden :/ I was most mad about Pieta being hidden..... My art teacher was talking how she first saw Pieta and how emotional it was for her and I really wanted to see it in real life too, unfortunately.. it was hidden... Just saw plaster one in Vaticans museums.

1. day

First day we came here we look around the city! To see how metro works, what are the stations and on which station we need to get off for -something- and importantly.. on what station is our apartment! We checked the centre, one basilica and museum <3

2. day

Colosseum, Palatine Hill & Roman Forum time!! we had it with tour guide since .. well, its impossible to see all three without one, all the lines and stuff.. we did good tho, we managed to see and go to Colosseum arena! The tour guide gave us interesting facts!

 FUN FACT:

Did you know the real gladiators were fat and not muscular and skinny like in films? The fat tissue was like armor for the gladiators! The more fat they were, the better protected their guts were and could be easily patched up :D if they were muscular and on low body fat like in films, their guts could get easily cut and die, which would be boring ;)

3. day

This day we visited Pantheon and Castel Sant angelo! just like previous days, I took a lot of photos.. but will only post some! <3 We used this day to also check Vatican city since for the next day we had planned to visit Vatican! Wanted to know how to get here and how it works!

4. day

Vatican city time!! This day was tiring as HELL!!!  I made over 20k steps 😭😭 It was even so hot that day, it made everyone so grumpy and annoyed... but the first hours were ok, we enjoyed Vatican greatly! We first went to the dome of St. Peter basilica, to get to top we had to go over 510 steps D: we were tired as hell when we reached top but the view was so beatiful... after the dome we went to check basilica and wow, it was breathtaking. You could even confess there or go for a silent prayer. Pieta was hidden.. I was hoping to see Pieta in its all glory but luck wasnt on my side :(

After St. Peter basilica.. we went to Vatican museums! we managed to buy skip the line tickets in last seconds :DDD so we got in!

5. day

We took a break this day! <3

6. day

Visiting Villa borghese park and zoo! another chill day since we had enough of walking :D Heres some cute animals

7. day

And thats all! On 7th day we went home by plane <3 I really enjoyed this trip even if it had its down haha, we decided to have walking holiday and we had it... next time we need something with less walking...:DD

Hope the photos will show properly! I didnt put ALL of them here since I have tons of photos from Rome but these should still do!

(god I hope the fonts and everything is showing good.. 😭😭)

Don't worry.. Rome is always under construction XD
I'm glad you had fun! How were the queues overall? Last time I went it took soooooo long to get into anything

I knowww but at least Pieta shouldnt be hidden! I was so excited to see it irl 3

And for the queues.. for Colosseum, Roman forum and Palatine Hill we were lucky for having tour guide with skip the line tickets! we could go quickly into colosseum and just wait till the tour guides in front of us entered the Colossuem, which wasnt long! Same for Vatican museums, we skipped the hour line.

We waited the most for Pantheon, St. Peter basilica and Castle SantAngelo. For Pantheon it could be even 40-50 minutes and for basilica ... 30minutes? which are still good numbers (we went really early so the line wasnt so bad, it got worse after we left), for Castle SantAngelo it was around 50 minutes! We were lucky, heard some people wait hours and hours.
