Alt style tips pls

Hello there, I am a very basic dresser but I would like to explore the alt world, specifically a rock-grunge/emo/punk style as I think it would suit me quite well and it matches my music taste. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get into it or just try and see if it suits me?
