new layout type! (for me, at least)

now that the media proxies are up again (thank u an!!!!!!!!) i'd like to sort of share and show off my new layout type. it's not totally mobile friendly at the current moment so do be careful...

i'm still not quite sure what to call it, i was thinking something along the lines of "hybrid" or "wallpaper hybrid" or "wallpaper fusion", but i don't think those really fit lolz.

this whole idea came about because of my exploration of div overlay layouts. if you happened to read my last blog, i pointed out how z-index and translations were sort of totally a pain, especially in the context of the original layout which [seems as if it] didn't have as many restrictions as we do.

so, instead of adhering a base photo over blurbs and going through the motions, i decided to make that base photo the wallpaper instead. naturally, all elements are positioned over the wallpaper, so that makes z-index totally unnecessary here. then, i went through and voided most other elements like usual, save for blurbs. instead, i translated blurbs to the outlined area. and now, anything you want can be added to the blurbs area.

best part? it even looks good when signed in. some div overlay layouts looked... not good when signed in. so i'm glad to have something that seems so flexible. and the code is def easier to pore through and edit.

06/25/2025 edit: thought about this for a while more the other day, and realized you could probably fit the entirety of the right side of the profile in there. blog preview with blurbs and friends and comments, in a scroll box. i wanted to keep it simple so i'm not displaying them now, but that could be interesting.
