the importance of club culture (+ my recent night out... :p )

On the 21st was the annual London Dyke March - a sort of alternative pride fest to the big corporate one, more politically inclined, etc. I had SO much fucking fun. Genuinely one of the best days of the year.

After, there was an afterparty at a club - it was 30º all day and SWEATY.

The club has such a strong history for us queer people - for so long it has been the only safe space, the first places many of us dress up and look the way we want to, the only place where you won't get stared at (or maybe only the good kind) and in the rise of purity culture and the loss of nightlife I REFUSE to lose how important of a space the club scene is for me and for us.

Techno music all night until 5am. Dancing, drinking, chatting with randoms, stolen cigarettes, digital camera photos. To be shirtless and wearing very little and knowing that I am entirely safe. Dancing with strangers I can trust. Sweating nearly to DEATH in a hot ass industrial unit. Lasers and light shows. Walking out as the sun is rising and falling asleep on the tube. I love the club. I love the club 4 EVER !!!! The way my quality of life skyrocketed when I found clubs with people like me and the music that gets me MOVING. Get dancing! Movement is therapy

ok bye

edit: there are pictures but they're sometimes not showing :p posted on my tumblr with pics here!

HELL YEAH🗣🗣
I want to try going on at queer clubs as well but non-lgbt people keep going there (idm the girls, but the straight dudes) and it doesn't seem fun to dress freely with them around

TRUST me there are queer places are out there where I never even have to see a straight person at all...the dream

I'm definitely feeling you on this one, I feel like I can only dress the way I want to truly at the club and not get too many stares.

I take the bus/don't drive so I don't feel confident enough to just wear whatever whenever. I still do my makeup in fun ways but it feels less bold to me than wearing revealing clothing that I want to wear.

Long live the club/nightlife!
