Okay so… I need to talk about this because it’s seriously getting on my nerves lately.
Why does everyone act like they need to hate on literally everything they don’t personally vibe with??
Like… not liking something is fine. Tastes are personal. But do you really need to go out of your way to tear something (or someone) down just because ‘It’s not for you’???
“Oh that show is so cringe”
“Ew you like that band?? They’re trash.”
“Why do people even dress like that?”
“Ugh, that’s so overrated.”
LIKE OKAY? Let people live.
It’s giving “I don’t understand it so I’m gonna hate it publicly and loudly because if someone else likes it, it must be stupid.’
No one asked for that energy, babe.
You can scroll past, you can say ‘not for me’ and move on. You don’t have to be a walking Rotten Tomatoes review every time someone likes something you don’t.
What’s so bad about people enjoying things?
If someone finds joy in something harmless- A song, a trend, a fandom, an outfit, a weird little niche hobby - why does it bother people so much? Why does everything have to be cool, aesthetic, or undeniably good for it to he “allowed”??
HOT TAKE: You can be chill and respectful about things you don’t get. You don’t have to “get it” to be kind about it.
Final Thoughts: Hating everything doesn’t make you deep or edgy. It just makes you exhausting to be around.
So yeah, If you don’t like something, don’t ruin it for the people who do. Let people like things, let people be excited, let people be “cringe”. Let people be free.
