Why is everyone in this generation so mean?

Everyone my age are really mean like I remember this one time this guy and me were walking into the same room so I stopped and let him go first and he gave me a weird look like sorry for being nice.. And it's the fact that it's happened more than once. What happened to manners like nobody can say sorry or thank you or keeping your mouth closed if you don't have anything nice to say like everyone are bullies I hear the MOST insane things like wdym you're calling people literal slurs for no reason???
