Transhumanism:mum i think i can be a cyborg!

(This is my first blog lol sorry if it's a little formal, you're allowed to give critique, share your opinion, and add information about this topic since I would love to know more :33)

(Sources will be linked below :))

You awake one morning to find your brain has another lobe functioning. Invisible, this auxiliary lobe answers your questions with information beyond the realm of your own memory, suggests plausible courses of action, and asks questions that help bring out relevant facts. You quickly come to rely on the new lobe so much that you stop wondering how it works. You just use it. This is the dream of artificial intelligence.

Ever thought while watching Cyborg from Teen Titans when you were younger, that you could replace your limbs like him and become half a robot?

Well, my fellow readers, your dreams may come true.

While a group of people is working on enhancing Artificial Intelligence to help us in real life, another group is working discreetly on how to evolve humans into a more adaptable species  and help them overcome the sad end of any normal species in its life cycle—death

What is even transhumanism?

In simple terms, it's the use of technology, robotics, and genetic engineering etc. to create a more evolved and adapted version of our species, Homo sapiens. Not necessarily to help disabled or chronically ill people, but to enhance the quality of life for humans in all aspects, including ethically, economically, healthily, and a bunch more. to prevent post-humanism: a point of history after humans are extinct/not on earth.

Think of it as artificial breeding, but working on us humans with technology.

As it also strives to keep us humans "ammortal", by which it increases our lifespannot necessarily immortality as a lot of people believe, just a better body.

As said in articles, transhumanists are working on evolving the human body into a more enhanced version of itself, where it can beat diseases, have a longer life quality, and use technology in our favor.

Cochlear implants, prosthetics, exoskeletons, even RFID chips are real technologies that already integrate with the human Brain-computer interfaces could add new senses (e.g., infrared vision, enhanced memory).

Ma'am, this is real life, not a dystopian fanfic.

Which gets me to my next point: will this actually work? Will it seriously change our species' destiny into a better one? And most importantly, are the pros over the cons?

As in pros, then yes, it would definitely change where our life is going, ethically, socially and economically, having enhanced features as human beings like increased strength, more detailed eyesight, and complex cells in our brain that help us function in a certain way, would absolutely make a greater chance fo jobs, less risk of death and diseases, medicine is enhanced easily, and a good use of money.

But as everything has its pros, it also has cons, like I said, these technologies would be a good use of money, which means they might—no, definitely create inequality in some way, as these will be terribly expensive, only rich people would be able to get their hands on them, I personally think if this happened, it would be something thats really against my values as if youre thinking about enhancing life quality might as well make it available for all people you get me? But at the end of the day its the real world, back to my point, if rich people got their hands on these stuff this will really cause controversial opinions and protests as there wont be equity in many life aspects such as careers, personal respect, mental impacts, education, loss of human identity and much more, as healthcare in example wouldn't be as important and workers would have less salaries due to the availability of more enhanced stuff people can use instead of spending hundreds on hospitals (this will be something from america's perspective not every country as most countries have health insurances), so to make middle class to poor people rely on hospitals more, the gotta make the healthcare cheaper, which wouldnt be fair to healthcare workers in my opinion.

In simpler words, think of how athletes who use steroids in sports have an advantage over those who don't.

Also, the human species will divide into two species as ones who are transhumans, and ones that are just Homo sapiens as said by M.J. McNamee and S.D. Edwards.

Next, biologically, speaking, of healthcare and medicines, most medicines are made by testing our DNA and genome and the protein sequence, which gets me to my second point,

HUMAN BODY IS MUCH MORE COMPLEX THAN YOU GUYS THINK.

Do you want to convince me that it's gonna be possible to just have some robotic cells in your body without it having any effect?

As we are different people, we have different immune, neurological, and body reflexes and responses, so no, most of these won't work.

Take antibiotic resistance and the flu as an example, does everyone get a cold often as same as other people? The answer is no, everybody is systemed differently depending on our genetic, environmental, and phenotypic variations.

AND, do you really think we could make cells similar to every single aspect in our body, like protein synthesis, respiration, osmosis, etc.?

Obviously not.

"But Renny, they could make it specific to each person."

WRONG. BUZZER. DIE. NO.

WHY? EEEEEXXXXPEEEEEENSSSSSIIIIIVVVEEEEEE, also it's a huge risk.

Let me tell you why. Imagine an antigen entering your body. Obviously, a normal, healthy human being would have an immune response. White blood cells, specifically lymphocytes, detect this antigen, recognizing it as a foreign body entering the body. Hence, the brain sends signals of danger. and will work on destroying it and releasing phagocytes.

Now imagine this scenario but with a new cell, maybe a transplanted robotic kidney, let's say a synthetic valve, the body will detect all of these as foreign bodies and work to destroy them, so now you'll become worse. Because even healthy implanted body organs aren't always accepted, so imagine a synthetic, robotic, unnatural metallic one?

Another side effect, chronic inflammation and fibrosis, is so common when it comes to cosmetic surgeries and transplants, at most, where scar tissues form around implants, causing them to dail or block functions.

Scientists, though, try to cover robotic parts with biocompatible materials or camouflage them with proteins to “fool” the body, but this is still experimental and not foolproof.

I just gave a few examples, but you can research more about it!!

One last point on limbs or organs out of the body, the only type of technology that works nowadays is limb prosthetics which are designed with synthetic nervous systems and camouflaging to downgrade the immune response that could be given by the body. as well as Bionic eyes (Argus II phoenix99) that help in restoring vision for blind patients.

Personal opinion & sources

As in my personal opinion, i really see that in the future we could enhance bodily functions that already exist instead of creating new ones, technologies that already exist can be enhanced into a better version, but as it comes to robotic cells and controversial technologies i personally dont think its a good idea since it would make us lose our human identity, would cause racism and unequality in different aspects of life, i always wish that we have the outmost science and technology that doesn't hurt anyone not even animals.

If this is ever possible ill definitely have a upgrade I really don't care the cost long as I can afford it!
