6-22-25: The Things Cobalt Will Do

Whether if it's figuring who the Umbrella Man on the sidewalk of the Grassy Knoll is, or whatever the hell sort of air(or space)craft flew over the Valley that night six months ago, likely Hubcap will be the first to obtain these documents once they become declassified. Why Cobalt doesn't just get them himself is probably because he fears getting shot by the government (or a CIA controlled group from another country) for obtaining all these now legally available documents. Sometimes Ƿynn will get these documents for Cobalt and not make him jump through hoops, but Hubcap, on the other hand...

This week's cartoon takes place inside the famous Hotel Marion, the crown jewel of San Ignacio Valley, as much of a renouned local hallmark as the Misión San Ignacio and the iconic delicacy known as "beef hams" (maybe I'll make a cartoon about that later). The hotel done been passed from different owners until, one day, it was bought by notable rancher and landman Malvin McAllen, the richest guy in Dondéstan County, same person who owns the café that Hubcap and Cobalt work at (he is their boss; he also owns basically half the town), who restored it to its luxurious status from when it was first built, and he named the hotel after his dear wife, Marion McAllen.

Sorry for the text dump y'all, I know that's the lamest way to explain lore, but it's most convenient for me. I guess I could've made a little "San Ignacio Valley–Highwayville Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce" brochure thing, but that'd have to be basic surface level stuff. That'd be trying to cram a lot of stuff in a limited space, and when you're doing 1-9 panels of the current situation, there's not much room for lore explaination and world building. It's better that I provide this context now so that later I can expand into different topics, like if Hubcap mentions going to a gala or something at the hotel hosted by Mr. McAllen, y'all won't just be going "What hotel? And Mr. McWho? What?", I wanna have background and not just make it seem super flat, give it some interest. Point is, these text dumps serve as a foundation for me to be more exploratory with my cartoon without leaving my readers in the dust.
