Nothing really happened this week. In all honesty it was a bit of a blur.
The cicadas finished up and are on their way out. More like the last ones are on their way out to be more specific. It's quiet outside, and I feel pretty sad over it all. For those who know me, that's kinda funny.
I mostly sat at my desk and stared at a screen this week. I've felt pretty dull throughout it all. I accidentally coped with it by eating more than I should've, so I'll unfortunately have to fix that mistake here soon.
The Summer season has officially arrived too, so the heat has been stupidly high today. For those of us here on the upper East Coast, it's been hovering around the high 80s and low 90s (26°C - 32°C for those who use it). That's pretty warm for me, and the humidity is what truly makes it a miserable experience. I have to keep my windows open at night and the little gnats are coming in through the screen and walking on my monitor. What fun...
I'm hovering over my last bit of cash that'll have to last me the next three months until I start work. I've cancelled my Spotify subscription to make room for this, so at this point it should be my phone bill that I only have to worry about. It's not like I absolutely need Spotify anyways, as I have tons of CDs and vinyl records to listen to. I think Spotify only comes in handy with using my headphones and not annoying other people.
I got a little carried away and spent twelve-hours-straight playing Team Fortress 2 on Thursday, up until the early hours of the morning. It felt like 2012 again as I ate some pizza, had a cola, and listened to 2000s electronic dance music. I actually put a lot of time to sit down and listen to the music by 009 Sound System, as I remember his song "Dreamscape" being everywhere when I was a little kid. If you're unaware, it's also known as "The YouTube National Anthem". I'm glad I did go back and appreciate something that I didn't then, and it kinda sparked a new love for trance music in me that I'm sure my poor partner will have to put up with.
It's so nostalgic that it quite literally summoned a phantom sound in my head of a Steam and Skype notification. Oh, how I miss those days. I'll be honest, I genuinely loathe how many "options" we get for communication now. I also hate a lot of the centralized ones like Discord. Skype was far better for me, and Steam chat works just fine. I wish people didn't require Discord if you wished to talk to them. Quick rant over.
For a while now my SpaceHey blog was all broken. I'm not sure what bull they pull behind the scenes but it screws with image sources. I spent a good afternoon repairing mine to its former glory. I'm happy I did that, but a big aggitated that I'll have to help some other friends of mine have to do it too, as the process wasn't that fun.
I wrote a blog post earlier in the week--two of them actually--about a collection of dreams I've had. I wrote another which was me crying about my feelings of loneliness. They're fairly uninteresting... well, maybe not the dream ones.
Today I started the second half of Lucky Star with my university club. They liked it, so I look forward to finishing it with them tomorrow. Before that I was playing Audiosurf 2 on Steam whilst in a call with a friend. He was having me try a new mode on the game that I was preciously unfamiliar with, but understand much better now. We like to compete for high scores against each other! Most of the songs were by the Danish rock band, Nephew. If you've never heard of them before, please do check them out! They're easily one of the best bands I've ever listened to. I found a new favorite by them today too called "Wasted". After that would probably be "Milk & Wine".
Today I also got my acceptance papers for my teacher candidacy. That was nice to see, so it helps me feel excited for the next few terms I'll be facing.
Tomorrow, or technically today since it's 1:31AM as I write this, I will be making pierogies for dinner for my partner and I. I'm not sure what else I'll be doing besides finishing Lucky Star with my club. I just hope this week is a bit more productive.
