Classes of Myriapoda

Myriapoda Is a subphylum in the phylum Arthropoda

Chilopoda-This class includes centipedes they are a very broad and diverse species so I will choose my favorite the minor blue leg centipede they are about 15cm with females being larger and like the name suggest their legs are blue, they are found across the Americas, Asia, and Africa they live in cool humid environments and are also common pets they are venomous and the venom is used in pain relief medication prey on other arthropods and invertebrates mainly spider, cockroaches, crickets, millipedes, and earthworms and are opportunistic predators. depending on their environment they can live for about 5 years

Diplopoda-This class includes millipedes again they can come in all shapes, sizes, and colours with there being 1200 known species from the 12in long African giant millipede to the 18-24mm greenhouse millipede, but I will choose the one I know best the ivory millipede because I have one as a pet her name is licorice. ivory millipedes are 2-4in who are native to the United States and live in moist environments like wetlands and humid forest, they are common pets but be careful if threatens or handled to roughly they can release toxin that can cause an allergic reaction. they feed on decaying plant matter except citrus and can even be added to gardens and they live for about 5-10 years

Pauropoda-This class includes Pauropods they are small millipede like arthropods but not true millipedes they are small usually only reaching up to 0.3-2mm in length pale and soft bodied they don't have hearts nor eyes, but they have sensory organs that can detect light they live in soil and leaf litter they feed on fungi and decaying plants and their lifespan is not widely available

Symphyla- This class includes Symphylans also known as garden centipedes they are small soil dwelling arthropods that resemble centipedes but are not true centipedes, but they might for a clade with centipedes. they are 2-9mm long pigment less soft bodied and have no true eyes, they can be found in the soil under rocks and decaying wood in moist places because of their diet they are known pest in gardens due to them feeding on roots and the root like structure of fungus. they usually live for about six-twelve months, but some species can live for four or more years.

Next is Hexapoda
