Serial Experiments Lain

I decided to watch this anime because of its popularity and because I think the aesthetic looks awesome. 

Synopsis 

After the suicide of a student named Chisa Yomoda, her classmates begin receiving strange posthumous emails from Chisa through the network—known as the Wired. Among them is Lain Iwakura, a 14-year-old girl who finds it difficult to relate to others. Without knowing how a computer works, she opens the email from the deceased girl, and out of curiosity, she tries to learn more about the subject. She asks her father for a new Navi in order to explore the Wired further—a navigation system similar to what we know as the internet.

Before post this blog, I had to watch an explanatory video about the anime, and I think it's REALLY necessary to do that after watching it. This anime is insane, and you're not going to understand much the first time you watch it. But when someone explains it to you, that's when you start connecting the dots and seeing the beauty in it.

Also, I think the best way to enjoy this anime is to watch it twice, once before watching the explanaroty video, and once after.

Opinion 

Plot / Story: I can only describe it with one word: insane. I can't even believe this anime was made in 1998, because the way it talks about technology is amazing. Even if you don't understand everything, it still manage to make you want to keep whatcing episode after episode (seriously, it's the first time I've finished an anime this quickly). The atmosphere and ambience it creates are unique.

Characters: The anime focuses a lot on the main character, which is normal, but it also brings attention to the secondary ones. I like that every character is so different from the others, especially in terms of appearance and design.

Animation: This anime doesn't focus on having the best animation, but it doesn't need to, because it's the details in the artwork that make it special. I personally love when it mixes the animation with real images, and the distortions that look like something from a TV screen.

Opening: The song is so fucking good, end the animation is alright.

Ending: I personally don't like it.

Pacing: It's well-paced.

Would I recommen it?: 100%
