Has it ever happened to you that you feel like you no longer live the way you used to? You used to go out at night to parties with your friends, staying awake until midnight, and you enjoyed your sweet afternoons in the park with them, doing silly things. But now, you barely go out of your house because of your responsibilities, resolve issues, or even worse, are afraid to go outside because of insecurity problems or fears, such as meeting new people. Death Cast (or TBDAE) is a trilogy that contains their most famous book, “They Both Die at the End,” and its prequel, “The First to Die at the End,” written by Adam Silvera, who has recently published his third book (The Surviver Wants to Die at the End.) This trilogy is about a world where a public service calls people every night to tell them they will die, but does not specify how they will die. The story is captivating, and you're so entertained that you forget when the characters have to die. And when they do, it causes a heartbreaking wound, but it contains a beautiful message about life and death. There’s something that the herald (person in charge of calling the person who is dying) says to the people who are dying. A repetitive but still interesting monologue to reflect on, a wish that not many pay attention to.

“...we want you to know that we at Death Cast are sorry for your loss. You have to live this moment to the fullest {...}” — they both die at the end, first part “Death Cast”

In the first book and the prequel, there are similarities between the two protagonists, Mateo and Orion. Mateo was so afraid of making new experiences and opening up to the world because he was afraid to hurt himself or others. thanks to the dead of his mothers caused during the birth of Mateo, he is afraid of hurt himself or even hurt the people that he loves. he is constantly guilty about enjoying life even when death cast called him. Orion in other hand, he can’t live peacefully beacuse of his heart’s problems. Knowing he will die no matter what other solutions he has, he is destined to be a short story and not a novel. However, with the arrival of Rufus, Mateo starts to enjoy life on his end day thanks to his last friend Rufus that who was next to him no matter what despite of even where the two were going to die in the end, and recently knowing each other in the same day by a social media. Orion, on the other hand, has Valentino. That not only decided to accompany him on his last day, even though he wasn't going to die today. If not that Valentino also gave him another chance at life. He donated his heart so he could become a Novel. Although they didn't need the heart, Orion also felt more alive by accompanying Val on his last day. At the same time, he gave him the joy that Val needed so much..

Being closed off to life and unable to experience new sensations is a fear we all have. We tell ourselves we have time, that our last day will never pass, and that we're too busy to create new bonds with others. But then that day comes, and everything you could have done is lost, and you feel like your life was a waste. Death works in unexpected ways; you never know if someone's last day will soon be here. It could be a grandparent, a young adult, or even a child. You may think that we may not be able to connect with people. But we are human beings; humans have the magic ability to connect with others, even if we don’t know each other. Maybe your last friend is next to you or across the street.

The author teaches a beautiful message of being open to life, finding friends that you met by chance, being yourself and doing the things you like, ending your wish-list, and doing what you always planned, despite being difficult. You don’t have to wait for your end day; you have to live like all the days are your last day. where there are possibilities that death calls you.
