blog #3 (ben drowned rant)

Okay, so I just listened to a creepcast episode (https://youtu.be/ah1SVEQfs2M?si=P0zUi7a3De4zuBl8, if you want to listen to it too), and the first story was of Ben Drowned, and I haven't returned to creepypasta in quite a while, so it felt like a blast to the past when hearing the story again since my childhood. I won't bore you with a summary, so I’ll just jump into what I wanted to talk about.

So towards the end of the story, the narrator/the dude that was playing the haunted game ‘Majora’s Mask’ shows us the notes he had taken while playing the game, and it basically goes from Ben being a tortured soul in a game he's forced to be in to Ben being some sort of computer virus evil troll.

Although Wendigoon and Meat thought that the notes part was kind of unnecessary and should have ended when the roommate made the last entry (personally, I agree), it also kind of made me think of some kind of theory. 

So the cartridge acquired at a garage sale from a creepy old man is linked to a tragic drowning of a boy named Ben, whose presence haunts the game. What if “Ben” was already within the game from the beginning, and it unfortunately landed in the poor child’s hands, and he went through the pain that the narrator of the story later goes through and ended up drowning himself, and “Ben” took the child’s name since it was attached to the game file that he played in.

I partly believe in this theory because we later find out that the roommate may not even exist and it was just something “Ben” created to make his virus spread so he can “be free,” or whatever that means. 

I also do think the old man that gave the narrator the cartridge in the first place is the second man to be possessed by “Ben” and was the first step for him to ‘spread.’ Idk, maybe I'm just thinking too hard on this stupid story

Thats pretty much all i wanted to talk about, and i think i’ll yap about more in the future…

I'm kind of hooked on creepcast right now lol
