Iron (poem)

--graphic imagery--

I chew my arm off and

work through each tendon,

string line meat

spitting each

conquered piece

at your feet

You’re so short sighted

No mirror eye

and a fur-line periphery

Nose goes the night

You only smell the sweltering cold

Only hear a great shivering

When you are sleeping

and I can’t rip out your neck

without an animal fight

I will lose

By virtue of my shake

I nudge

the sacrifice, my

Threadbare arm placed by

your head

I hope the smell of iron wakes you up
