looking for a good distortion pedal

i play the electric guitar and i wanna play some heavier stuff on it and my amp doesnt have that much distortion so im looking for a pedal to use but i dont really know which one. ive heard good things about the boss ds1 distortion pedal but im not completely sure. help would be appreciated!!:33
